Dean Hammond.
I fookin loved Murphy. Whenever a cross came in me and my brother would just shout "murphy's!" and it invariably was!Murphy wonderland....
Shaun Murphy that is.
Adding to the players themes....
List players that were or thought were absolute bobar.
But turned out alright?

Stuart McCall
First saw Jags play in a 2-0 win against Burnley in 2001. Thought he was slow and crap.
I must have completely missed the idea of this thread if Stuart McCall is a candidate.
Absolutely class player who, though past his best, was never "shite".
Jamie Murphy was proper shite until Clough arrived and we then saw what he could really do.
They all underwhelm someone though. If we signed Messi he'd be too small and weak for this agricultural division, if we signed Suarez, he'd bring the club into disrepute and if we signed Ronaldo he'd be too shiny. As for Neymar, forgot it, we don't want some fucking kid dictating his terms to us, well done CW for telling him to fuck off.For me, it's about players who, when signed people were generally rather 'underwhelmed' so to speak... Until said player actually played for us.
Ugo is a decent shout by the way. A very 'WTF' signing that turned out to be decent. Sun Ji Hai is mine though. Brought in almost exclusively because of our newly acquired Chinese football team to raise the profile of the club out there... Actually turned out to be a decent full back. Oh and then there was 'that' tackle. Brilliant.
Cheeeeeeeeeeef
Remember Chief made his debut at Cov away with Onoura starting and Chief replacing him as sub.
Was a bit of a grand day out for the likely lads that one with a stop off on the way home.
