Have we ever played a team three times in a row?

Not sure if we've ever played someone three consecutive games in a row, but if we do play Blackburn in the playoffs, we'll have played them 4 times this season as well as 3 consecutive games.

We've played Cardiff three times this season, played both Millwall and Blackburn three times each when we got promoted in 22/23.

I haven't done the research but how about fixture/reverse fixture over Christmas - was that a thing, or did I make it up - and then a Cup game.

We played Preston three times in three weeks in January/February 2015 because of an FA Cup replay.

But we played some league games in between.

I often think if I was in a coma, woke up, found out United were playing that day and asked who the opposition were there would be an 85% chance it would be Preston.

Personally thinks it's a 1 game shoot out between Coventry & Middlesbrough.
Cannot see Millwall getting anything at Burnley, Bristol City will beat Preston.

What about Blackburn for 6th ?

Quite possible.

Re most games against 1 team in a season

We played Liverpool 6 times in 1898-99 (2 league games and 4 in the FA Cup semi (but one was abandoned

Ditto in 1922-23. 6 against Forest. 2 in the league and 4 in the FA Cup in a 1st round tie that went to 3 replays.

Between 29 August 1983 and 27 September 1983 we played Bradford City three times, a two legged Milk Cup tie and a Division Three game, but there were plenty of other games in between.

Played Barnsley five times in the 89/90 season.Three FA cup ties, three of them in the FA Cup.Remember Steve Cooper playing up top for them, what a dirty sod he was.
