Have we ever played a team three times in a row?

It could happen if we lose to Blackburn on Saturday.

Not sure if we've ever played someone three consecutive games in a row, but if we do play Blackburn in the playoffs, we'll have played them 4 times this season as well as 3 consecutive games.

We've played Cardiff three times this season, played both Millwall and Blackburn three times each when we got promoted in 22/23.

Nearest I can remember is Bury, 2 cup replays in January 1962. Played them 3 times in 9 days, but separated by an away league game at Villa 2 days before the third game.

I haven't done the research but how about fixture/reverse fixture over Christmas - was that a thing, or did I make it up - and then a Cup game.

We played Preston three times in three weeks in January/February 2015 because of an FA Cup replay.

But we played some league games in between.

Stevenage 3 times in our horrific play off campaign in 11/12 sandwiched in between a game at Exeter, a lot of fans blame Ched for that capitulation but I blame the remainder of the squad for their cowardly actions from the MK game onwards.

I often think if I was in a coma, woke up, found out United were playing that day and asked who the opposition were there would be an 85% chance it would be Preston.

We played Liverpool 6 times in 1898-99 (2 league games and 4 in the FA Cup semi (but one was abandoned

Ditto in 1922-23. 6 against Forest. 2 in the league and 4 in the FA Cup in a 1st round tie that went to 3 replays.

I did check aswell and didn’t see the Chelsea game inbetween the city games, need my specs on!

Definitely a thing. Stoke played Bury six times in seven games one season in the 50s. The league double-header followed by a cup game which went to three replays.

We played Bradford 5 times that season. Also an Associate Members Cup tie.
