Coming up to the big match in two weeks - I’m slightly intrigued if any blades on here have sat in the home end at hillsborough before, and if so what was it like? What did you do when we scored? Or they scored? How did you feel about the whole thing in general in terms of difficulty?

Years ago I went to Zenith data blades vs old el rusticos sat in the front row 1-0 down and we scored, me and the lad I was sat with just jumped up screaming and shouting then that moment of shit we’ve fucked here, was about to jump over the hoarding to go on pitch as this seemed a better prospect but we turned around and there were 100’s of us in the stand, unfortunately we ended up losing 2-1.
I would say sit on your hands or go full mental case ( hopefully they won’t go near u)

Yes unfortunately at the infamous Boxing Day game with my mum and dad and a mate who gave Curran the fingers when he ran over to the North Stand after scoring

I was at one night game in the Leppimgs Lane where we had a massive mob in their north stand who were all moved down to the end nearest the away end. We ended up with about one fifth of their north stand, think it may have been the Bibby Davidson game but they all start merging into one in my memory nowadays

Yes, March 11, 1992, Bobby Davison game. Sat on my hands throughout, relaxed a bit when the home fans started flooding out, leaving mostly Blades fans, however, one of them thumped the back of my head as he was leaving. Still a mystery to me how he knew.

Aye, April 2010. Sat in Kop with a mate who is an Owl and for some reason was able to get cheap tickets for all their home games so went quite a bit that season.

It was a 1-1 draw and not much happened so was easy to not stand out.

Yes, I was in the North Stand for that game. It wasn't the Bobby Davison game as I was in the Leppings Lane upper for that. It was amusing in a completely infantile way, as after the coppers had kettled all the Blades down one end, we were told 10 minutes before HT that if anyone wanted a piss, they should go now as they wouldn't be allowed on the concourse at HT. Cue dozens of Blades going to the bog and pissing all over the floor for the pigs to wade through at HT. Like I said completely infantile but... well, pigs innit. 🤣

I sat in the north stand for this game, Blades all over the ground and Bob Booker in the away end. Blades jumping up everywhere when we scored including me. A bit of verbals but nothing more than that for me.

Usually been on the Leppings Lane end but been on their end for the derby 4 times.

Boxing 79 KOP
I was a young teenager and stood right at the back of their Kop. Not tall enough to see the pitch and all the gangways were totally packed. Remember thinking if anyone stood down at the bottom needed the toilet, it would take them 15-20 minutes to get through the crowd. Also remember 2 or 3 people wearing red and white scarves at the back of their Kop. So it was obviously more acceptable to mix back then.

93 Date Zenith cup NORTH STAND
I was on the North stand close to the Leppings Lane end and that was the unofficial away end overflow area.
Must have been at least 1000 Blades some wearing red scarves making themselves clearly visible.
Think we lost 3-2, when we scored I stood up cheering. Again it was more acceptable to mix.

Early 00’s KOP twice
I knew Wednesdayites who simply just bought extra tickets….those were the days eh?
Remember a game when D’`Jaffo and maybe Asaba scored. I almost stood up to celebrate but just managed to control myself.

Not been to a steel city derby at Hillsboro for about 20 years.

Last one I went to….i remember walking up Herries Road after the match.
Obviously loads of Wednesday fans but I saw this big bald headed guy taking his dog for a walk near the bottom of Herries Road.
He had a massive Rottweiler and his dog was wearing a red and white striped Blades shirt….thought it was hilarious….wish I’d taken a photo.

May have been the mile wide grin 🤔
(Or the Blades bobble hat ?!?)

Yes the Bobby Davison game sat in their newer of their two side stands.
The then wife worked for an old people's home and Wednesday had donated two season tickets for them to use, but being a night match and against United they decided not to use them so me and the wife went.
Didn't jump up when we scored just smiled, remember at half time they played Tina Turner Simply the Best and the Blades in the leppings lane moving their arms up and down, looked pretty good. Just wished Mobiles were more advanced then would have been a good picture.

Yes. I was behind the dug out for the 4-2 win and it was amazing. It was no problem at all. Nobody noticed my big smile every time we scored. Or that I didn’t sing/clap to HH silver lining. Or that I wasn’t bouncing before the Duffy goal.

1993 in north stand, think it was a Wednesday night.
My pal was a Wednesday season ticket holder and let me borrow it while he was on holiday
Brian Deane scored just before half time and Warhurst equalised
No hassle at all with their fans.
Around 8000 blades at the match, the noise when we scored was incredible

Yep, 2006 still got a nice scar above my eye as a souvenir 😁

i always remember watching a beamback in 2005 & was their a shot on their kop after we scored. it kicked off im assumimg due to a unmasked sheff utd fan & as i remember just seeing the police sprinting half way up their kop. as someone was likely getting the 💩 kicked out of them

Padded seats a few times for the derbys. Sat next to pig royalty. 2001, 2006, 2012 and 2019.

I was sat in the North Stand for my first competitive S6 Sheffield derby in April 1971. No segregation at the time and it was easy for us to spot Blades fans sitting near us, one of them shouted at my dad some rows behind telling him "we will win by 5". The match ended in a boring 0-0 draw.

I have attended every S6 derby match since then apart from the League Cup 2-0 defeat in August 1980 (I was playing cricket that day) and have always watched from Leppings Lane.

For the Gerry Young, John Fantham (both in 1970) and Lawrie Madden (1990) testimonials I wasnt in the Leppings Lane end

Yeah, but years and years ago. I'd have been in my teens. It was this match: https://www.espn.co.uk/football/match/_/gameId/49401/sheffield-united-sheffield-wednesday

It was grim. Their ground is a hole, their fans are like whining, groaning, smelly, illiterate, underpaid, greying, spiteful, resentful, deluded, malnutritioned, white lightening drinking, wife-ran-off-with-their-cousin, orks. And that's being polite. If Sheffield City Centre is a bustling metropolis, they are the snidy, jaded forgotten nobodies, living in Scar's Outlands (Lion King reference, for those of you whom are fans).

In the match, McCall had a driven shot from the edge of the box, that was the closest we came to scoring if memory serves. I had to sit on my hands through fear of jumping up. Didn't find it the easiest thing to do, to be honest, but in some ways a damn sight easier than sitting in other home ends, because at least my accent blended in.

My mate sat in their end the other year too, and one of theirs spat on him as he left. He simply replied "Big and clever that, pal."

Scruffs of the highest order. UTB.

Yes, three in the league and once in the Zenith Data cup, hated all three at the time, but we won the two league games so I was the only one smiling coming out of there kop.

Boxing Day & ZDS in their South Stand , 2002 in the North Stand along with quite a few Blades . ZDS had some banter with the surrounding Oinks , North Stand visit surrounded by fellow Blades ⚔️

Despite the score,we battered them that day,Pressman must have made 5 or 6 top class saves,we hit post a couple of times and missed an open net

I've been in the away end once for a derby, wouldn't go again in any end.

Yes north stand in league twice and cup game once win draw and loss was all good but had a few mates with me 😉

In the league cup, the chef at the pub I worked at had got two tickets from his brother who was a scout at Forest at the time, so we were sat with scouts from other clubs, including Peter Eustace who was scouting for West Ham at the time, who would face the winners of the tie. Marcus Bent missed from about 8 millimetres out, and they won. Around 2001 I think.

We were in whatever stand it is to the left of the away end. The stand was mainly populated with fuckwits, for a change.

Stood in it.
With my Dad (Wednesdayite as rest of family).
Stared at a lot.
Watney Cup or whatever when United trained all day before evening match as Bassett 'did not think it was important'.
Lost after never looked like winning so got out OK.
DO NOT DO IT ANY GAME AWAY (or home if only tickets available)
Not like the old days.
My dad and his brother went with their two Unitedite brothers in law to both grounds.
Never took me as 'too little and would get hurt'
WE were civilized. Clearly not true now..

I did for Bouncing Day, Leppings Lane end underneath our fans, if the net hadn't been there then Duffy's shot was coming straight at me. Glad I did it and managed to get out without a peep, although I was surrounded by tourists.

Yep in the South Stand (fancy seats) when we beat them 2-1 in 2006. Had to contain myself when we scored but lots of others in the area didn't so there were a few angry pigs prowling in front trying to spot where the Blades were. They scored a penalty so had to give em a slow hand clap

Once. One of the drab 0-0 results under Warnock. We had a few good chances saved by Pressman. It was difficult not to get excited abd betray your allegiance at those points points.

Back in the day we used to get 7-8k tickets, so it was rarely necessary if you were on the ball when it came to getting a ticket.

Yes the 1-3 in the 90's. I was one of loads of us on their North Stand. What a day that was.

'3-1, we bet the scum 3-1 '
Bobby Davison debut I was on their Kop at the back.. when Whitehouse scored the first loads of Blades celebrated was like fight club I kept quiet just wanted to ram the drum somewhere the sun didn't shine however that did take the gloss off a fine away win.
