Has anybody sat in the home end at Hillsborough, against the Blades?

Once. The 2-1 defeat in the League Cup.

I went with my Dad, he was sat next to an absolute walloper who was impressed that a cockney had moved to Sheffield to chosen to support Wednesday, when in reality the old man couldn’t stand them and was a regular at the Lane and there with his Blades mad son

Sat in the stand to the left of Leppings Lane, north? When we beat them 2-1 (Asaba and D’Jaffo). Loads of blades towards leppings lane. Wasn’t allowed for a piss at half time and at full time, we jumped the wall and walked out with all the blades.

I may or may not have a ticket for the lower tier for the upcoming game. Depends on how the ballot goes.
I was a bit further away from you lot. Piggess work colleague got me a ticket in the home stand. Walked out at the end with all those Blades giving us stick 😂

60s and 70s both sets of supporters went on each others kop its just what happened in that era but the september 67 derby at the lane was the most violent wednesday fans were lucky to get on and off the shoreham south yorkshire police saved em that day

Coming up to the big match in two weeks - I’m slightly intrigued if any blades on here have sat in the home end at hillsborough before, and if so what was it like? What did you do when we scored? Or they scored? How did you feel about the whole thing in general in terms of difficulty?

Their North Stand for the 3-1 Bobby Davison day.

Remember being quite nervous going in with my mukka, telling him to keep it quiet. We were sat towards their kop, went up the entrance steps and walking to our seats and there's a huge 'YOU BLADES' directly at me and realised probably a couple of hundred blades in same area so it felt much more comfortable.

Went barmy when we scored, some Blades on their kop got hounded out (I wouldn't say chased).

Recall it was a little bit tricky on the way out but all in all an exhilarating experience, mainly due to no real ticketing restrictions.

I think these days if you managed to get in, being quiet or being a MMA fighter on speed would be the options...

UTB!

A few times, and it’s horrible:

The 3-2 defeat in the Zenith Data Systems cup in 89 on their Kop, the 1-1 when GlynnHodges was sent off for elbowing John Harkes, the 1-0 loss when Kilgallon was sent off so that Mike Dean could get himself in the papers again.

Hard to sit on your hands, and doubly hard to listen to the rubbish that opposition fans spout, particularly that lot. Not recommended, in my opinion!

Once, back in 1989 for the world famous Full Members cup or Zenith Data Systems whatever it was, 30k+ there anyway. A few months after disaster. Me & brother in law sat a few rows behind dugout. Kept quiet until Bob Bookers late equaliser, couldn't contain myself with a leap, punched the air with a get in yer bastard. Got quite a few shouts of abuse etc but no aggro. Got quite a few shouts & missiles when fckn Sheridan got winner in extra time. Only been once since, 2-1 win Tongue/Akinbiyi.
Genuinely loathe the place and don't plan on going again anytime soon.

Yes a couple of times - once on their kop in the 0-0 in 71 and once when we won 3-1 with Bobby Davison - tickets won by my daughter from radio Hallam, Was worried but when we scored realised there was a couple of hundred in that stand

Bobby Davidson game.
North Stand Kop End
Didn't sit on hands, went ballistic thrice.
Masses of blades at both ends of the North Stand that night.
Brilliant night.
Was a little nervous but when Whitehouse opened the scoring the last 2 blocks at the Leppings Lane end just erupted. Blades easily outnumbering pigs. Was a great night in fabulous company

Sat in their North Stand that evening 1-3 what a night
Me and my mate not saying owt until we realised there were loads of blades around us

Twice.

North Stand in 1979, the whole of the section next to the Leppings Lane was packed with Blades.

League Cup 1980, stood on their Kop with a pig mate. I seem to remember there were a small number of Blades bottom left near the fencing. A bit of a scuffle took place but nothing major.

Both shitty defeats.

Went in the early 2000s, was on the North Stand and I’m not exaggerating by saying there must’ve been over a thousand Blades in there that day towards the away end, plus loads more scattered about all over, it’s a surreal experience against your most hated rivals, we couldn’t stop laughing that the pigs couldn’t or wouldn’t be able to do a thing about it that day, they were fuming! 😁

Me and my mate sat in their Cantilever stand 92/93.
Deane scored first and the natural reaction was to celebrate like mad.
Loads of Blades were on the stand.
No hassle from the Wednesday fans we'd been having banter with them all the game.
A few handshakes with them as we left after the game.
Only grief I had was I got spat on by a fellow blade as we walked out. There was a net fence between us and this nob was gobbing on us the other side of the fence.
I revealed my United shirt at which he apologised.
Dirty coward git if you're on here reading this.

Yes the 1-3 in the 90's. I was one of loads of us on their North Stand. What a day that was.

'3-1, we bet the scum 3-1 '
I was there pal best match ever even beats bouncing day

Quite a few times in the sixties used to assemble in Pond Street walk up Penistone road and onto their Kop
One game in particular stands out a 2-2 draw think Birchenall notched a double thought we had scored a winner but disallowed
Blades all over their kop chanting you're surrounded you're surrounded probably 66

In the 1990’s after visiting the music factory on London Road we went Hillsborough and got in the side stand on the pitch we all had a piss on the pitch and rolled a special cigarette in home dugout

Think we drew 2-2 twice that year at Hillsborough, earlier in the year, then September. The latter was my first derby game. Sat in those open seats at the side thousands of United in there. Their Kop looked spectacular with thousands of Blades with banners and flags

yeah was at both those games up to the september 67 derby at the lane home fans were behind the goal at the bottom with away fans above but united changed that in 67 by going to the top of the shoreham so wednesday fans couldnt be directly above us pigs did same in reverse fixture at the sty jan 68

When we lost in the League Cup in 2000 I was in the home end, bloody horrible experience

One of my earliest memories is watching United at the sty sat on the home end. Was on the stand where the dugouts were. Remember seeing a grey haired Nigel Worthington trotting about. Don’t know what game it was though - did he play in more than one Sheffield derby for them in S6?

Edit. He must have as he played for them for 7/8 seasons. Shame I can’t remember much else.

Before seating in the 60,s and early 70's the Blades fans always got in early and took their positions from the top of the Kop to the half way down divider. First did at Birchenall's Derby. They could never shift us. Probably the biggest number of Blades around the ground was the 1970/71 Promotion season. Crowd 48000 about 30000+ Blades. Their next home crowd against Sunderland was 9000.

Can't say I have. Nearest was when I got tkts for north stand for the ZDS cup game ..ended up not going due to a bad bout of tonsilitus. My best mate went in the North Stand at the Bobby Davison game. I thought it unwise at the time but when I saw how many Blades were also in there I knew he'd be OK. TBH the thought of sitting on my hands for 90mins does not appeal.

My dad did when we drew 2-2 in 1967. He had a scar on his cheek from that day till the day he died.

September 1967, I think.
At the Lane when we lost to a John Ritchie goal?
