Not how I interpreted it...
I understood that he offered to resign, and asked for £4m - he was told that if he quit he wouldn’t get the same payout as if he was fired (PA quote in interview)
He then had the choice to still walk, and accept a lower settlement or stay
He evidently stayed - now with hindsight we can see that the snide comments in his pressers were in fact goading them to sack him, thus realising his full payout
How many club owners would tolerate the comments, let alone whilst sat bottom of the league?
I think he finally left the club when it became apparent they weren’t going to pull the trigger, so he negotiated a severance package
I would like to think that as a Blade, had I led them to a record breaking relegation, and was already a multi millionaire from said club, I as a last gesture would walk out the front door not taking a penny more
It’s not like you and I jacking a job in, wondering where the mortgage is coming from etc
He has trousered (deservedly) several million, and will walk into another job on similar wedge, no need Chris, no need
