So it’s official we are now the running joke of football. But I’m interested has any other chairman of a Premier League football club come out so openly and hammered an ex manager and disclosed financial earnings?

Im just wondering if we are the first to do this?

Probably, just didn’t register at the time.

The non-blades supporting world (cunts) will have forgotten about this by the time they sit down for their tea tonight.

He's 100% right to do so, due to the bile being projected his way, by Wilder fanboys.
So, he tried to resign twice and wanted 4m to help him on his way.
It's quite clear Wilder ran out of ideas and was not the tactical genius that his worshippers thought.
The club moves forward and Wilder is now just a memory.

Massive respect for the Prince to come out and tell his side of the story.

I'm quite confident that he does have the best intentions for our club.

Is there any wonder the team were struggling when the manager wants out on multiple occasions?

Thank you for everything you've done Chris, but now we move on.

I think you're over-estimating the amount that other football fans care about this and are following the story.

Not many managers come out and hammer the board and keep their job for that long.

I'm just wondering if the Prince will get blamed for everything? Right now it seems no matter what happens, it's his fault.

Wonder how many of CW's friends will boycott games next season, or jump at the first opportunity to create unrest 🤔

Trying to think of ANY time sky sports news spent half an hour on one subject to be fair! Bizarre that they were so invested!

Genuinely, every time I hear the Prince speak, he does seem genuine. What he said about needing more targets to help with negotiations? Makes perfect sense. If a player/club knows that you're only looking at that one person for their position, it means they know they can string you along with any price they fancy.

Absolutely, a disgrace that the Prince insisted we have SIX forwards!
Oh, hang on a minute....................

Fair play to the Prince for speaking openly, it’s obviously his version of the events. And as the Queen says, some recollections may (no doubt) vary.

I think the big message was that the Prince did put faith in Wilder, he did pay him well. However, we may never know how this was reflected in how Wilder felt he was left to do his job.

I don’t think that it’s unreasonable for a manager to have complete control of recruitment targets, it’s the clubs responsibility to look after the money side and set budgets.

I think the Prince is also correct that Wilder should be accountable for failings in those areas

I don’t think it’s really that big a deal when the manager Refers to players as “championship”. 9th or not last year, that’s what we’ve recruited. Dress it up how you want to sponsors but you can only piss with the cock you’ve got.

I am impressed to an extent with the interview, but I don’t have much faith in the Prince to run the club if he can’t retain the best manager we’ve ever had

Wilder should still be manager, it’s that simple.

Hardly the "running joke" don't be so sensitive my dear.

And there are plenty of outspoken owners/chairmen, rent-a-gob Jordan on Talk Sport for one was never afraid to say what he thought as was his successor Steve Parish.

Erm nope. I dont think we are. We have a chairman who is brave enough to come out and tell his side of the story. We now need Wilder to tell his. Somewhere after that we can all take our opinion on what really happened.

Did you say anything when he was taking digs at the board in the media?

hammered an ex manager

I must have missed that bit.

I thought the comments made were quite well balanced.

There seems to be no getting away from the fact that Wilder wanted to walk and the Prince didn't want him to go but eventually Wilder forced his hand so that he had no choice but to let him go.

Then to top it all Wilder wants paying to go!

That's bizarre in the real world.

Let's remember that the Prince is a business owner and Wilder is an employee of that business and their relationship should be viewed in that light.

I think Chris, who I was advocating as our manager a long time before he came here, overestimated his own importance and worth to the business.

The first four years were great in terms of results on the pitch but there was a marked change in our playing style/attitude from the moment we conceded three late goals at Villa Park to grab a draw from the jaws of victory.

From that moment we became less forwardly aggressive and more concentrated on keeping the shape and defending better to hold what we have, and grabbing what we could, all of which was perfectly demonstrated in the "Basham's arriving" game.

Last season in the premier league we set up "not to lose" games which aided by remarkably consistent team selections meant that consequently we had a very good defensive record.

We also did well at taking our chances when they came, got a few breaks, and finished in a much higher place than anyone could reasonably have expected.

There was no way that was ever going to be repeated this year and Wilder has consistently referred to there being nothing wrong with the shape this year, our players being championship players, and things just haven't gone our way this year, all of which I agree with by the way.

This however doesn't put him in a position to demand sole control of all footballing matters or he will take his toys home.

This season Chris has refused to accept his share of responsibility, preferring to spread the blame to those all around him and has shown little in the way of leadership quality and I think that now is the right time for a parting of the ways.

The way Chris appears to have gone about "engineering" this parting is disappointing and does nothing to enhance his reputation.

I said on the way up that it is easy to be a great manager when things are going well but the real test will come when things are going badly and results are not going your way and unfortunately I feel that Chris has failed this challenge rather badly.

In conclusion, I'm sad that it it has to come to this, thanks for the good times Chris but in the end you have been bad mouthing the owners for so long that I think they are fully to their right of reply, which they have now had and I wish you well in your future life.

If the Prince is getting hammered on talkshite for sacking Wilder when he actually resigned then I think it is fair to come out and say so.
Personally I feel that the comments about recruitment were unwise, given that most of those are still with us, even though such comments are fully warranted.

You are over hyping the situation.
He either says nothing and gets hammered for not keeping the fans informed or he offers up his side of the saga
As I expected Wilder asked to go as hed come to the conclusion he'd peaked in his position
Whichever way you add it up his handling of this season has been at best poor. He's had the ability to change things but failed to find a solution.
Asking for 4m just to go is his last brave decision.

No worse than Wilder alluding to the fact that they were not good enough after every defeat which usually followed a very thinly veiled attack on the board.......

What's that chant.....oh yeah, "always the victim, it's never your fault"...................fits Mr Wilder very well that.

I'm just wondering if the Prince will get blamed for everything? Right now it seems no matter what happens, it's his fault.
Was he in Wuhan in late 2019? I think we should be told (and I bet Chris Wilder invented the vaccine anyway)

This should never have happened, but he's left with few options when Wilder's point of view is being leaked all over social media and press by his friends. Making accusations against the owner.

There has clearly been a huge communication breakdown at the club, which obviously isn't helped by COVID and having a chairman based in other countries. In fairness to the Prince, if we had a DoF then Wilder would have spoken to the DoF and the DoF would be then speaking to the Board. If you refuse to have that, you have to do it yourself. SB can only do so much.

It was a lot more open than I think most owners would be, I'll give you that. On the other hand it was exactly the kind of clarification that people were asking for. There's only so much I trust a rich businessman making himself out to be the good guy but he makes a very sympathetic case for the board's position.

The only thing that still doesn't fit for me is all this stuff about the training ground. The Prince says it was never discussed in the conversation he talks about, but he also never says outright he (or anyone who had the power to fix it was unaware of the situation, and all this stuff about a roof baffles me in general given it should be pocket change for a Prem team spending millions on players and wages. I have no real knowledge on what's going on there, it just seems hard to accept that either all the word about it is untrue. And if any of it is true then someone's dropped a bollock there.

I think he did a very good job of sweeping the wage issue aside as well, but there's still an open question about whether overall we're actually competitive on that front.

Only thing I can say is even though I'll never really trust our owners (past, present, and future) that interview did a lot to make me feel better about the whole situation. Which I guess wasn't that hard given how bad I've felt about this season as a whole and losing what I think is our best asset. Still, it's something.

Running joke? I commend HRH for putting it out there after all the crap hes had to take, there are always 2 sides to a story. Hopefully some of the imbeciles on Facebook and Twitter will bite their lips before spouting off next time.
No they won't mate. No-one is ever wrong on Facebook or Twitter. Spout utter bollocks first, play the context card later

The fact that Wilder offered his resignation on few occasions and still expected a yuge pay off is staggering.
When you say ‘fact’ ... not sure we can say that at this point.
