I wonder how many sell on clause fees are dodged using 'undisclosed fee' and then a bit of creative accounting.

Have we ever received a fee from a sell-on clause? Genuine question. The like of Morris, Mellis, Wayne Quinn etc we'd never have known given any % of a future fee would have translated to bugger all with those players. Naughton and Lowton are our only recent big young player sales to go for a reasonable fee afterwards, but I can't recall any cash going our way as a result.
Stephen Quinn? I heard we had a clause with Hull that they had to pay us something like £750k if they went up, because we'd virtually given him away.
Don't know if it's true or if we received it.

Can't see how this sale could possibly happen, unless he has a minimum release fee which is unlikely he insisted upon given he was joining a PL club at the time.

Hull has 8 contracted defenders. 2 are unknown youths, at least to me they are. Of the remaining 6, Dawson is out until November, Bruce and Odubayo until January.

It leaves only Robertson, Curtis Davies and Maguire as the only fit defenders. They will have to play ElHamoudy (sp?) at right back and he's been playing midfield for them. A midfield which has just lost Diame to Newcastle.

Let's not spend the money quite yet!

I'm surprised they haven't sold him. The owner's stopped giving a fuck and won't spend any money. Maybe he's waiting until they get a manager before a decision's made or maybe he's just trying to drive up the price.
If Boro think he's good enough for the PL, they have to pay near to what a PL defender costs these days. A young one with a potential resale value. Not sure what that is but I'd guess over £10m. If I were Hull I'd probably want around £8m.

Got one for Naughton.

Have we got a sell on clause, on top of a sell on clause, if Middlesbrough buy, then sell at a later date.

My memory is a bit hazy but, as far as I can remember, McCabe said there were sell-on clauses, Levy said there weren't. I think Levy won. Or was it that they didn't have to pay the sell-on clause because they sold Naughton for no profit?? Either way I don't think we got anything when Spurs sold Naughton.

And wasn't there a Spurs fan on here saying that Levy never pays a sell-on clause?

Most sell on clauses are a percentage of profit. If we sold a player for £1m with a 25% clause, and he was then sold for £2m, we would receive £250K NOT £500K.

I think it was decided that the bulk of the joint fee for the Kyles was spent on Naughton, and because of that there was no profit when he was sold. It follows that if Walker is sold we will make something on the profit on the balance over his share of the fee. The problem is that i can Walker spending the bulk of his career there and ending up released, possibly back to us. It is an issue when you sell players to rich clubs, if they are good the new club will never be pressed to sell and the sell on clause doesn't come into play. In that light the Hull deal was a good one.

Middlesbrough. Back in for Maguire. 7m all in. Hull still not playing ball.

This would be a real boost if it happens. We apparently have a 15%(?) sell on clause. So potentially over £1m for us.

Hull are said to be offering him a new contract though, hopefully he'll reject it and push for the move.

Knowing our luck though he'll either move on deadline day when we've got no time to do anything with the money or even worse leave on a free transfer next summer.

Ideal situation for McCabe. No doubt the old it's avaiable for the manager int early days of August then forgotten or used to fund 9incoming new players at start of season.

Same old

I still like to pretend.
The only reason I still play FM now and again is because on that you actually get a budget to play with. It helps me to get over the disappointment of us not signing Sam Morsy, by signing Sam Morsy. Sigh.

1.7 mill for che:confused: stupid business and if this happens 1.05 mill for harry that's 2.75Mil, plus massive savings on wages. We could put a reyt side together out of that but we won't :(
