That puts us on the 5 matchday squad loans doesn't it? CB a permanent signing or are we going to drop one from the squad?

Anybody for letting the lad settle in and actually watch the lad play before making any judgement on him ,started 35 games in their promotion season and that experience for a young lad could be invaluable. Utb.
Will you stop coming on here and talking positive please . Ipswich fans say he is good at CB to so lets see what develops before slagging anyone off . 😜

I've checked his attributes on Football Manager. Now I'm going to search for highlight reels on YouTube. I'll return with a definitive answer to the question as to whether he's an excellent signing or, indeed, crap!
Make sure you factor in heat maps going back 4 season, his progressive passing stats and what his overall rating is on FIFA.

There's bed wetting.......and there's this.

I’m gong to send a letter to the new owners to ask them to sack Wilder and appoint JayGreen as manager.

Believe it or not…..Wilder will have known exactly what we need for many weeks.
There will be been a long list of plan A targets, plan B targets and plan C targets too.
Someone at the club will have approached the agents of loads of players weeks back to test the waters regards interest.

Our fans have no need to panic yet, obviously Wilder has a plan…..might not agree with it but he has more knowledge….all the inside info regards personalities, contracts, ambitions etc. I’m not sure about Chouhury but feel re-assured because Wilder has seen him loads of time in training and knows his character, personality and exactly what he’ll offer to the team.

Another example and this is just made up, for all we know Gilchrist might have told Chelsea he doesn’t like being played out of position at SU, so Chelsea and the player have spoke with Wilder who has agreed to give him a chance trying him in his preferred position…to give him the chance to shine…but no gaurantees.

Maybe it’s dawned on Wilder that both Sereki and Shackleton are fragile regards constant injuries…..and neither can be relied upon this season.
So Wilder now judges right back to be a priority because we don’t have any, agreeing to only play Gilchriest there when we’re desperate and have no one else.

Until the window shuts and the new players play a few matches….we have no choice but to initially give Wilder the benefit of doubt.

Yeh it’s quite funny, the feedback seems quite similar to Choudhury.

In that he’s not Premier league level but should do a good job in the Championship resulting in out fans being underwhelmed because he’s good instead of brilliant.

The plan can't be Gilchrist. He's so far off what we need in a CB and I think Wilder knows that.
He can fill in there and if we move to a 3, he could play RCB... but I'm positive that Gilchrist replacing Souttar won't be the Plan A.

I don't think we are likely to make a permanent CB signing that has the capability of stepping up if we are to get promoted. That would take a lot of money and the selling club would have minimal time to adequately replace. It would be a very tough deal to make in a short space of time.
The domestic CB market seems very scarce.
I'm happy with one that will see us through and over the line this season and who would provide adequate cover next season (on odd game, with suspensions etc) if promoted.

Same here.
But that shouldn't stop you having an opinion.
Basically on this forum there are two choices.
He's an Excellent signing or He's crap.

And don't forget that if you say you've never been particularly impressed by a player when you've seen them, that will be interpreted as 'he's fucking wank - no-one at the club has got a clue. I'm more knowledgeable than anyone'

We can have as many loans as we want so we could still easily loan another CB
Yes I know we can have as many as we like but my understanding from here is we can only have 5 in the matchday squad, so if we loan a CB one of the following would need to be dropped from the squad.
Clarke
Gilchrist
Choudhury
BBD
JRS
New CB

Will do! Not a big FIFA fan to be honest. My initial thought is that FM says he's quick, which appears to be accurate from YouTube. He's also apparently got a long throw. So, if it's ok with everyone, I'll let the club know and give the signing a green light.;)

No thank you. I’ll stick to hating and dismissing a player I have never seen play purely based on some fan forum comments, ta very much.

My Ipswich fan mate says he is a popular player and a great one for drinking with fans and leading celebrations. So a cross between Stearman and Brewster.

No worries mate, must have read it wrong

Worth noting that Clarke played through an achilles issue last season which required surgery in the Summer.

well according to ipswich fans hes better going forward than defending so think youve got it the wrong way round maybe it also indicates that we may be going back to a back 3 and wingbacks 🤔
I recall pretty much the same from Norwich and Peterborough fans in the summer and we're good enough defensively on the left flank.
You don't go 3 at the back with Souza and Hamza in midfield.

WHY WHY are we going for a RB when we are desperate for a CENTRE BACK…. please make it make sense.

We will not get automatic promotion purely down to not replacing Soutts……WTAF are you playing at Wilder. Pockmark this!
Nurse nurse they've got there phone again 🙄

you may be right but souza can play a bit further forward with choudray sitting imo souza has a good shot on him and not suggesting going to a back 3 especially since clarke is coming in if darling comes in i think it will be a 4 with gilchrist back up for darling and robbo back up for anel

This is how he compared to the rest of the division's full backs last year.

Points to someone that is comfortable in possession, without being overly creative / decisive in the final third (like Bogle).
Defensive stats aren't great, but Ipswich went up in second with a very attacking style so I'd assume that skews this somewhat.

In the few Ipswich games I saw last season I thought he stood out, looked to have pace & power and attacked well from right back. He was part of an Ipswich side where nothing could go wrong though, doesn’t really have the same level of experience as Kenny did.
