He’s trying to sign a centre back? He didn’t want to sell Trusty and he didn’t want Souttar to be injured so only 6 months ago he wanted 4 centre backs. With the arrival of Clarke it moves Gilchrist into being able to cover two positions.

Wilder isn’t stupid he knows we’re screwed if Anel or Robinson get injured, he also knows Robinson isn’t the best which is why Anel & Souttar despite both being right footed were his preferred pairing.

He’s played for us, just once this season as centre back and was underwhelming.

But to fair his first 2 games playing for us as right back were underwhelming too, then he adjusted to be position and became better and better.
So if Wilder does try him as centre back he needs at least 3 games to adjust back to his preferred position.
Let’s not forget he was club captain and the Chelsea Academy player of year in 2024 playing as centre back.

Although I understand he played at Chelsea in a back 5, so maybe Wilder will revert back to 3 centre backs and 2 wingbacks.

I was just thinking the same, I don't know what Foxy and Linz think they are up to, Foxy will claim he was at work in some important meeting and Linz will blame the kids.

I watched him a few times with Ipswich last season and he looked good to me. He'll give us the attacking RB role Baldock had, Seriki has, but Gilchrist doesn't.
