Hampson gets the third. That's 2 in 2 games for him. Never seen him play, what kind of player is he?

Quite enjoyed that second half. Plenty of movement and energy. Yes, only Harrogate but nice to see the ball moving around and generally going in a forward direction.

1-4 finished. Marsh with final goal. Good workout. Impressed with players work rate and pressing. Big pluses Dozell and Slimane, we may have a player in him after all. The team looks balanced with a number of left footers now in the squad. Only League 2 opposition but a wins a win. We really need to address goalkeeper and lack of aerially dominant Centre Back before the season starts as there will be tougher challenges to come.

You would have thought they have an eye on a keeper they want but dont want to reveal who due to a) news getting out and the price inflated, and b) cant due to "takeover"

Probably a more natural 10 than the wide player he’s being asked to be for the seniors this preseason but he’s also played deeper as a conventional midfielder as well.

Good close control and makes intelligent runs into the box which mean he has a knack of getting on the end of things and scoring goals from midfield. He’s struggled though at times when asked to sit deeper to be the main man and dictate play in the middle when the likes of Peck, Arblaster, Brooks and others have been absent from the 21’s.

Hampson needs to lend his shooting boots to brewster. That's not me having a dig but you can see his confidence is up and he knows where he's finishing.

Brewster looks like he just needs a break!

Yes, agree with that. I think his ideal position is RCM in a three. His off the ball runs are very good and that's why he scores so many goals.

It’s no secret we want Cooper from Plymouth- wether he wants us is a different matter.

Positives from that:

A very energetic performance. Everyone was eager to press and hassle to win the ball back. A sight for sore eyes after the lethargy of last season.

O'Hare looked the dogs in the first half. Only so much you can take from a friendly vs L2 opponents, but his ball control, dribbling, and eye for a pass were all excellent. Showed great desire to reach the ball for his goal too.

The threat from wide was a joy to see. Slimane cutting inside on the left, and McCallum overlapping beyond him was really pleasing in the 1st half. Brooks and Shackleton also on the right were good.

Young lads all put in at least a decent performance, but would single out Marsh and Hampson in the 2nd half as particularly exciting. Praise too for Sachdev for playing the full 90, and looking fairly composed throughout (besides the goal, but we'll get to that).

Very happy that players are getting more accustomed to this new formation. Passing was very slick and tody for much of the game, and loose balls were quickly chased down and out under pressure. Gives me more confidence that we'll be ready by the time we get to Preston.

Negative

Only bad stuff centred around their goal. Sachdev probably ought to have done better, but as far as I know, he hasn't been out on loan to this point, so was somewhat caught out by an experienced striker who got the better of him. Hope he learns from that experience and improves.

And then, looming over everything like a bird shit on a picnic, is Ivo fucking Grbic.

I'll quickly say, he made a decent save early in the 2nd half. Got down well and parried the ball away. But it was a bread and butter job, and he should have saved it, so that's all the credit he's getting.

I've seen plenty criticising his poor attempt to save the ball, and I do agree - he could stretch his arms out and try. But more concerning was his positioning. Their lad gets the ball close to the centre circle and then runs at our goal. There's plenty of time to step across, and force a shot at the far post. But he tip toes his way across, expecting a shot far too early, and leaves a wider gap at his near post than Moses made in the Red Sea. It's absolutely appalling that he's offered such a fucking freebie like that. We absolutely need to get someone in as #1 urgently, because he's complete guff, and I don't trust Davies enough either.

Grbic. Yup. Positioning was bizarre.
