Player Suggestion Hamza Choudhury

Hamza was brilliant at right back, not arsed on him in midfield.
Also begs the question of what the point of signing Doherty is when he's a bona fide right back, is in the squad but hasn't been used when our first choice is injured.
Bodies. Experience. Culture. Intangibles.

Hamza was really good for us but we need some pace in the squad. If we sign him I really hope we bring in another winger and not 2 more CB's

I think there's a few factors here and probably explains why Wilder has gone in for Hamza.

Firstly it can't be easy right now recruiting players bearing in mind the potential points deduction. Hamza knows the club and Wilder and will no doubt be keen to join us.

The budget is limited and although Hamza might be on big money I suspect that it's within our budget and Leicester are probably willing to do business.

He can play rb and centre mid which is really important. Say Seriki is out till Christmas, how easy is that spot to fill if any potential right back knows that Seriki is fit again after, bearing in mind his quality. I suspect if Hamza comes then it will mean a centre mid leaves in January but Hamza can still play right back when needed. We lack centre mids who can win a ball, he's definitely a player who offers something different in the middle.

Finally people saying he's not a right back should recall how well he played for us there. Take today for example how weak we looked down the right, even when Seriki has played we've looked far too open on that side.

I think Hamza would be z cracking signing given all of the above.

It may not be the exciting Jayden Bogle type we'd all love to see like Seriki but if Hamza comes it should allow the winger in front to attack more knowing that the right back behind is solid.

I get your point but I don't think this season is the season for expansive attacking football because we just can't afford to not be solid at the back and we've lost Hamer and Brooks of course. Wilder wanted the likes of Lewis Dobbin but he chose elsewhere. Our wage bill is too high, as is the number of players. So this season is about keeping it tight defensively, BBD and Cannon likely to provide the outlet on the counter which will suit both.

They'll be games, especially at home, where we attack more but you have to recognise that attacking threat is not where the strengths of this team is at right now. It's very disappointing I know. But I don't believe the blame should be at Wilder's door.

While he certainly should get a little more patience this season he’s also not blameless in this situation.

It’s not his fault the owners are shite I’ll give him that.

There were managerial mistakes which led to us missing out on the premier league

A lot of the players at the club were his signings. They also show a lack of coaching, style of play, athleticism which is all on him now.

I’d like to think he can see we seriously lack any sort of creativity. He then watches our attacking right back, one of the only players at the club with pace and power and a willingness to try and take someone 1v1 get injured and then looks to replace him with another rigid, solid and seriously uncreative player which will not address any of the current weaknesses in the squad except for being an available body.

Jack of all trades, master of none and probably an expensive one at that.

There’s a serious lack of imagination with our signings / rumours these days and if it wasn’t so boringly predicatable it would be funny.

If we had not signed him before would we be looking to sign him now?
We have sufficient central midfield players
We have doc and Shackleton to play right back until,p Seriki is fit
He is not a specialist right back
We have other areas that are in more urgent need of new players

Without repeating myself I think this window is incredibly difficult thanks largely to budget, the new SCR rules going to 85% of total income and we've lost parachute payments, and then the off field stuff. So it's not surprising Wilder is looking at players who are good enough are players he's had before or like Worrall know that Wilder has wanted them before .

I disagree regarding coaching and players he's signed. The main reason our budget is screwed is the signings based by the board or Selles but probably the former who cost a lot and have delivered so little.

You're right on creativity. We all can see that. But I don't think Hamza coming will mean we create nothing down the right.

He can play at RB, yes. But he’s not at all similar to Seriki in that role, so if it’s to replace him as he’s got a big injury we should be looking at who we have on our list as potential replacements who match the profile to try and bring in.

But, no. We’re doing what we always do and bring in someone who the manager has signed previously, ‘knows the club’ (which apparently matters), and who can’t can’t in the team at his parent club (in the league below).

It’s the laziest of signings. He’s on a huge wage at Leicester and we’ll be paying a hell of a chunk of it.

He’s not what we need right now in any way, we’re overstocked in midfield, and we already have Seriki’s back up at the club who the messiah signed himself.

We are so fucked, and nothing will change with this manager and ownership.

We are becoming a very boring, one paced below average squad.

Wilder's legacy was what he did in the first 4 seasons. His returning stints are gradually ruining that legacy, he's lost his identity.

Doesn’t matter, he’s being bought in to play RB.. you know like Doherty has been bought in for?

I don’t want to be too hard on Wilder because he’s playing a shitty hand this season and is the kind of leader you need in tough moment. But if we make this signing it will test my patience.

Im ok with hamza for RB cover. In lieu of seriki injury. We need more than Doherty.

We've got enough bodies for cm though. I know he plays there as well be realistically unless we have departures 6 players for 2 positions is well stocked.

I still want us to sign another attacking player. A winger, an attacking mid or striker to give us another option.

I agree with the frustration of signing the same faces and our clear lack of any scouting network. But Hamza is one of our ex players if certainly welcome back.

Fair play we’ve managed to assemble the most boring squad in the league. Maybe as well as boring the fans we also plan to bore the opposition into 40 more draws this season.
