Shame we'll have no chance to abuse him.

Oh well, fuck you anyway Dean.

Apart from play like a donkey, which many others players managed to achieve last season, I don't think he did anything to deserve the over the top stuff aimed at him.

Glad he's gone mind, for the sake of all parties.

Has there ever been a more disappointing signing?

There will always been a place in my (dead stone cold) heart for you Dean.

They will have paid him off. Hopefully at a vastly reduced rate to what his wages were. If he insisted on the full amount then I would have kept him on as we weren't gaining owt and not make his life very easy.

I assume the new contract he was given started yesterday? And he's gone today? Got to be a record surely?!

Pity whoever sanctioned the Hammond contract deal in the first instance is not also leaving the club at the same time . We all blame Hammond but the blame also lays elsewhere within the club.

Feel for Wilder and the fans with this debacle.
I'd say the blame is firmly with the club on this one.

I head that Chris has had his hands full sorting out some of Nigel's leaving presents.

difficult one , when you sign a premier player he might only have come if further options are added
players hold most of the aces these days
who knew hed be so indifferent

I heard Mal Brannigan's sudden departure was partly down to his sanctioning of that deal - apologies to Mal if that's not correct, just passing on what i heard.

Sadly I would hazard a guess he will have taken at least 60% of the contract worth, which of course means he can "afford" to prostitute himself out somewhere else for 50% less over the next year and actually be better off....which makes me a little mad but at least he's gone.

Wonder what it has cost us.....i will speculate £350k! Saving around £150k.

Wouldn't surprise me, bizarre deal. So heavily weighted against the club.

So, actually, standard rather than bizarre!

yeah, got to say, can't him on the contract side. Any footballer (or person for that matter) would have done the same. I can fault him for his attitude at the end of the season. His legs had clearly gone but he did at least try. Much of the backlash is Dr Bladercoaster's fault for spending so long trying to sign him and making it a much bigger deal than it actually was.

Mal didn't sanction deals all on his own. He negotiated the deals for the players identified, and worked especially hard to get Hammond done as he was a player Adkins was particularly keen to have. But they were all sanctioned by the board, and there had to be a carrot for Hammond to drop to this league. If he had been superb it would have been regarded a coup!

If it helps, I can tell you that when KM met Brannigan to discuss the settlement of his contract the first thing he said to him was "Sorry....it was not my decision" that says a lot to me.
Brannigan did a very good job bringing new revenue streams into the club and worked incredibly hard, there very early every day, and leaving late. He rarely had a day off. He was also very highly regarded by the staff within the club too.
Let's not forget he didn't identify players, he negotiated the deals for the manager and put them to the board.

Sign for a club where I knew the fans hated me just so I could screw a payoff from them?? No I wouldn't mate, I've got some self respect.

Rubbish.

Guarantee an income for another year towards the backend of your demising career in a fickle industry.

Anyone who refused that doesn't suffer from a lack of self respect, just brains.
