I’m not an out and out Hamer fan ,don’t get me wrong he’s been a star for us , he shows glimpses of brilliance, his tackling is woeful and probably lacks the athleticism to be a premier league star ….. but he seems a real 100% committed to the club type of lad and believe that the only move he would really want is back to PSV , heard this from a Coventry lad who knows him from his days down there … he for one in these days of player power and downing tools seems to be cut from better stuff and have little doubt he’ll give less than his usual 100%

Minority opinion alert: Gus is more athletic than he looks and fit enough to put in a shift. He's deceptively quick in full flight - just looks like he's going to be slow given he has a naturally stocky build (a bit like Maradona).

I agree he picks up too many stupid bookings as his defending is woeful and he can go missing in some games. No doubt he's a mercurial talent though. I think to get the best out of him you don't assign him a position - just tell him to go out there and have fun!

I think that's why it was a good decision by Wilder to play Hamer on the left side. He didn't have those defensive responsibilities. It didn't help Burrows, but we had Souza for that.
It seems that Selles is trying to turn Hamer into a box to box midfielder which I think robs him of his strengths and exposes his weaknesses.

Obviously Hamer on the left would mean there's no place for Barry in the starting XI anymore, but Peck can't play as the lone 6 anymore and O'Hare with his willingness to press defenders is better suited for the 10 than Hamer.

I don't think he ever gives 100% to be honest. Look at the turn of speed he showed to set up the goal at Wembley. Never ever seen him move that quickly in any other game.

Hamer on the left does not work as he drifts inside which not only provides no protection for burrows but also gives him no out ball when in possession. His form and confidence suffered especially when our “gifted” championship manager supporters gave him grief for not creating

Finally some common sense! Although O'Hare might have to sit out, he can easily replace either Hamer or another and we have a serious threat from the bench. I definitely think we should go with a 4231 type formation whether that 3 is in a diamond with a false 9 or similar could be an option too if Ings is the "1" and 2 wingers.

No, not really, but that thread shouldn't have been written. I think it's a fair question to wonder why one of his best friends has been spreading false rumours though. It seems a stretch to think he'd be very publicly doing it if he'd been told not to.

Don’t think you’re far off the truth there. If anything he’ll have been keeping his ear to the ground on the Veerman to Brentford transfer.

Seems fairly obvious he’s not really interested in another UK move and wants to move nearer his family. I’d be delighted if he ran down his contract and went on a free back home. He’d be 30 by then so should be spoilt for choice of clubs.
