Outgoing? Hamer

Written by a S*n "journalist" who make things up to sell papers/get clicks.

Who would have leaked a story from that angle? The club would say, "not for sale unless silly money", the agent would say "open to a top move".

Only Baltic/Rifle would give a straight up doomy story like that. I'd bet it's completely fabricated by Nixon. It's an easy topic to guess on, he's arguably our best player and we're getting relegated.

With the amount to be released on high wages plus the likely sale of Anel and Souza (at a loss) I’d be furious if the one player of genuine class we have were to be sold, think it would cause a full of meltdown within the fan base as well, and arguably rightfully so

That's a big if. I wouldn't have any complaints if we accepted. It's the peak fee for him

But it would harm our chances next season significantly and what might we spend trying and failing to replace him for the next few transfer windows?

We signed him for £15m, and he's proved he can score and create in the premier league. Selling for £15m would be ridiculous.

He could be the best midfielder in the championship next season alongside Arblaster. I really hope we've learnt what happens when you sell your two best players before the season starts.

We need a big sale. He's probably the only one other than Anel or Arblastar who we could even dream of getting over 10 million for
Can you imagining selling Archer and Hamer we would then be stuck with Souza and Anel 😂

As surely we wouldn’t sell the whole team 😂

Selling him for money back would be ridiculous.

The whole argument is we had to settle for Berge going and the upside is we have Hamer in contract.

Hamer then has, in the end, a reasonable PL season under his belt, yet he’s only worth the same as when he’s played no PL games at all?

Fuck off!

If he is sold it has to be for no less than 25m.

That said, you start selling Arblaster and Hamer this summer and you may as well only open 3 stands on matchday because it will drive fans away.

Would be absolute stupidity.

Sold Illy to buy Hamer.

Sell Hamer when go down.

Replace with cheap replacement…

We would be substantially worse than before we got promoted. With PL money & parachute money & 2 sales 😂

Unless there is a clause in his contract, we wouldnt be stupid enough to sell for the price we bought him for.

If you look at his stats, passing, chances created as well as goals and assists he matches or betters quite a few high profile players such as Conor Gallacher who is priced at £50m.

For me, I see no reason why we shouldnt be doubling our money if we had to sell.

Easy to say sell Anel and Vini, but who is seriously going to take them. Anel's value decreases by the game and Vini is a sub for the bottom side. Hope theyve got good agents for our sake or we'll be loaning them out and paying half their wages just to get rid.

Here we go. Hamer sold on the cheap and replaced temporarily on the cheap.

He’s a decent player but the squad is completely hollowed out and if the plan is to use loanees to build the spine of the team it won’t go well.

Could see a West Ham, or a Brentford bid for him….but as others said it’s bolllocks we would sell for what we paid.

A year in the prem where he proved that when played to suit him he will score and create….has plenty of contract….bidding starts at £25m.

Anyone coming in with less should and I suspect will be told to multiply.

Don’t fall for the hysterics, I’m the biggest critic of this owner and board but selling cheap isn’t in his playbook!!

The other thing….if we manage to get rid of the shite we paid money for…aka Souza, Slimane, Traore, Trusty…we will have made a loss, and quite a big one.

Headline figures for these sums around £20m plus….we will be lucky to recoup a third of that outlay.
So someone coming in and offering what we paid for Hamer plus the sum of what we look to be losing on those whoppers will be tempting I’m sure!
So even if we sell Hamer for £25m, don’t expect a spending spree of any kind unless all of that other dross has found a new club as well.

We cant sell Hamer. We need to build around him and Arblaster.

Sell Anel and Souza. Could get £20m back on them 2
I thought you were a lot more sensible than that Mattbianco,£20 million for those two,I would be astonished if we got £8 million for the pair, then we would have had the buyers pants down. There is no doubt either that we will sell Hamer and Arblaster if a decent bid came in,he’s mortgaged the parachute payments so we have to sell assets to survive, every club has to do it.

I wouldn't begrudge the lad a move. He at least has improved as the season has gone on and worked hard to get fit. 15 million is a joke though for a proven premier league midfielder.

It's probably sensible to assume that anyone you were a bit surprised that we managed to get has a contract with things written in that suit them.

We don't have many cards to play and we've shown over and over again that we're not very good at the leverage game anyway.

Entirely possible that the conversation went:

SUFC: We'd like to sign you Gus.

Gus' agent: That's nice but you pay shit wages, you've sold your best players and you're going down.

SUFC: OK, how about we put a very low release clause in and then if you do OK, you'll easily get a move and we won't be able to stop you?

Gus' agent: Deal

I’ve heard he’s got a release clause. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s £15 million.
This is not picking on Wardy1889, because it happens loads...but; "I've heard...."

Heard from where? Why does the person you heard it from know the finer details of transfer contracts between professional clubs.

We need to build a team around Blaster and Hamer they could rip it up in the Championship.

To be fair the Prince has got plenty wrong but he is no McCabe when it comes to player sales.
Not the biggest but Lewis O’Brien on Loan, Arblaster and Hamer and you have a promotion midfield.

Get someone like Worrall instead of Anel and have him, Egan and Robbo and you have yourself a very strong Championship defence.

Add the Rotherham keeper and you’re alright between the sticks.

Keep McBurnie and keep him fit and then you just need one more to click, whether than is a loan player, or one of Brewster, Jebbo (if he stays), Osula, Marsh, Traore or whoever.

Just need to decide on the wingbacks and you’re almost there.

But binning off the actual foundations is going to send us back 5-10 years.

Hamer knew he was joining a team heavily tipped for relegation. Shouldn’t be a surprise for him we went down.

Agreed but I don't think that means he expected to stick around if he was proved right.

I think he only stays if no-one comes in for him. I do wonder if PL teams will question whether he has the necessary athleticism for the top level and pass on him. Might be clutching at straws with that though. Think Leeds are certs to bid for him if they go up - their current midfield isn't good enough for the PL.

I agree that a midfield containing Arblaster and Hamer would give us a huge chance of promotion but I'm not too confident both will still be here next season.

A positive if Hamer does go might be that we're more inclined to hold onto Arblaster.

He’s not playing Championship football next season, so sadly get ready to see him go.

If we are going to sell get it done quickly not a couple of days before the window closes, we need to get looking for a replacement or two for him.

To be fair too Nixon he gets alot right.
This too me seems like agent leaking out that Hamer wants out and that United are in trouble financially and a bid of what we paid for him could see a deal done..

This is potentially going too be the longest most painful pre-season in Uniteds history, any decent player we have sold and replaced with an inferior product.
Add too the fact the Scrubbers stayed up and are on a roll next season could be a total nightmare..

Just out of interest how do you know he's not playing Championship football.
Do you know something or guessing ?

Bit old that back three, 27, 31 and 32 next season.

Like all players he wants to move forward with his career not back, he turned down Leeds last season, hot promotion contenders in the Championship, in favour of a move to relegation favourites in the Premier League, he’s not going to want to play for a club that will have a very low chance of being in Promotion contention when Premier League clubs are sniffing around.

I don’t mind experienced centre backs.

Whilst I wouldn’t mind a Jacob Greaves I’m just being realistic.

Plenty of know how for that level. It’s just getting the balance right.

Surprised we don’t seem to have any Centre halves pushing through from the youth team at all. Seems we get Strikers, midfielders and fullbacks but no centre back since Big H.
