Half time "entertainment".

If you guys think these dancers are so rubbish then why don't you get out there and show us how it should be done?! I'm sure Rich would be more than happy to have you dancing alongside him!!

wizard1889 fair play for coming on here to put your point across, I don't intend to be rude, But personally I thought it was crap and if I do have to witness the halftime entertainment (seems like I have to as the blades clearly don't want me buying beer and eating pies), then watching fat kids dance badly isnt my idea of entertainment.

Get them on trampolines, doing summersaults and breakdancing properly then I might get vaguely interested, but seeing lame dance troops is not what I see as entertaining.

Sorry if this is harsh and not really constructive.

Why even post this??

Anything that gets kids interested in a group activity which results in them getting fitter, healthier and working as a team is perfectly acceptable to me.
I don't really see it as the club putting it on as half time entertainment but more of them encouraging a local group to perform in front of a crowd to help bring their confidence and ability on.

Would I pay to see them -No
Do I stand and really take much notice - No
Is there better entertainment than this - Of Course

But what I wouldn't do is come on here (especially when some of them or their parents might read) and slag them off for their ability or especially their size.

I expect more from you Swiss.

A discussion on half time entertainment is one thing but slagging off kids who are actually trying to do something rather than dossing around on computers or whatever is beyond me.

The only suggestion I have is that the dancers should perform in front of the Family Stand where the audience might be more receptive. :)

It's really not my cup of tea, but then neither would a brass band be. That said both are miles better than listening to Gary Sinclair. As raul says, anyone who can get kids enthused about something that might acutally be good for them.... kudos.

The kids are trying, they may not be the best in the world, but I agree totally with VespaBlade. If it was your child on the pitch, you'd be proud and it would stay with the kid for life as a great memory. I would rather that than them sit on a PS or Xbox all day.

Don't forget, if they enjoy the game, they might want to come back, buy a shirt, eventually a season ticket etc etc, think of the potential long term investment. You are aware some kids get the Blade bug, start coming regular and eventually later in life end up running a company who then sponsor boxes etc and the club wins again!

And it shuts GS up!!

Wow, I thought when I started reading this thread that it was a "light hearted" go at half time entertainment but it seems the humour bypass has kicked in all over the place.
I can't possibly comment on the actual entertainment though as my HT is usually spent forcing my way into overcrowded, piss filled, odious bogs and just hoping to get out with dry shoes.

Personally I don't enjoy it at all and I would much rather have something related to football at half time, such as the half time scores or a penalty shoot out for kids. I made a point on Saturday stating that you don't have an interval at the ballet where 22 blokes get on stage and have a game of football so why do we have dancing at football?

How can anyone not like to see kids enjoying themselves , they will remember it forever , the only time i ever got on the sacred turf ,was as a wippersnapper at the end of the season and i loved it .

I have no issue with them doing it, I agree that kids should be out there doing activities to enhance their lives in whatever way they enjoy. I'm sure it's brilliant for th kids in many ways. I commentated on the half time entertainment as I saw it.

I was saying that as a paying spectator it didn't float my boat, I didn't think it was any good and I thought that the exercise was supposed to help kids keep in shape...

Apologies for any offence caused.

Hello,

As I've said, I'm not offended as its everyone's opinion which they're entitled too...

It's not like we're are there every week, we do 6 or 7 home games per season for 5 minutes at Half time.

I like the point about facing the family stand, great idea, only problem is that Sufc put us on the GAC stand so parents wouldn't have the best view & as they have to pay for a ticket to come in as the kids do then I'd like them to see it.

Another good point about them becoming Sufc fans, this has happened a lot of them now have the blades bug & have even travelled to some away games.

Dancedaze is obviously more than the Sufc crew, we run after school clubs, lunchtime & breakfast clubs & also offer PE lessons, we are currently in over 30 schools per week & I have over 10 members of my team running sessions in different schools.

5 dance crews, including 3 competition crews who are at a very high level & a Hallam FM performance crew.

Again, sorry to those who don't like it, but I know there are quite a few that do, probably in the family stand & GAC... We are there as Sufc asked us to do it, the talent of the individual dancers is very good & Shape & size doesn't really matter in the dance world, there are do many graceful larger dancers.

Hope that's cool, I'm really not one for arguing a point but I stick up for my kids & what I believe in

Thanks

Rich

Well said Rich, not my cup of tea but everyone to there own, my Grandson loves it, as he knows some of the dancers.....

Excellent, I agree, more of the kids will enjoy it, it's not really for the dads & I know that totally...

Thanks

Wizard,
Not my cup of tea, but I don't have to watch it if I don't want to.
It's 5 minutes and it does a lot to enhance the lives of those kids and it promotes future Blades from what you've said.
Keep up the brilliant work that you do - my daughters loved watching it at the open day.
UTB.

Ahhh, thank you so much, it really means a lot, I do everything I can to help them, and they deserve it...

Glad your daughters enjoyed it...

Half time normally consists of queuing up for a pint for 14.5 minutes and then downing it. 5 minutes into second half dying for a piss.

Don't mind the kids, I don't really expect to be entertained at half time. It's a rest for the players and tactical discussions. Not for me to watch a juggling polar bear or something.

No need to apologise - Your views are as valid as any on here, you caused me no offence.

It is more about alluding to the size of the kids who are doing something healthy ( which you have done again btw), and their parents or themselves reading it on here.

We all have our own opinions about obesity and lazy feckless kids, it's just that these are doing something about it.

Tbh I would personally rather watch something else at halftime or nothing at all - I go to watch the football so am not bothered whether owt happens or not.

Don't have a problem with kids entertaining the crowd, just as long as they don't bring those bloody awful kazoos with them - here we are on Page 5 of 5, and no-one's mentioned them yet.

Like a swarm of bees singing "The Happy Wanderer".

As a parent of 2 kids, I have sat through many a school concert and if you looked at them critically, they are on the whole "crap". But the main part of this sort of performance is that the kids enjoy it. Kids love performing in front of adults and gaining praise afterwards. It doesn't matter if they appear "crap" they should not be suppressed at an early age and encouraged to express themselves.
I'm sure the majority of entertainers, sportsmen etc. were "crap" in their particular field at a young age but if they had been ridiculed and told they weren't very good they may have not persisted and developed into real talent.
This sort of thing is great for kids and encourages them to be part of something and be proud of what they do.
Hats off to Rich and Dancedaze for what they are doing, personally I think it's great.
If you don't feel that this is worthy half-time entertainment then don't watch. I didn't (sorry Rich). I went to talk to a mate elsewhere on the Kop mainly so I could spend 15 minutes without my knees wedged round my ears.
By the way Rich, the version of the Wrtetch 32 song "Traktor" they danced to was the editted version, right?

Yer call that crap a song    ???? Well I suppose it take all sorts, whatever floats your boat.

It is good to see kids doing something constructive with their lives and I'm sure individually some are very good dancers but the choice of music and the routine leave a lot to be desired, maybe a smaller group would be better to co-ordinate as some seemed a bit off with their timing.

Agree MB! Surely the main reason everyone is there is for the football. Anything at half-time is just to fill a lull/void and most use that time to empty, refill or both!

And you never know where these little activities in front of a crowd lead. My daughter did these types of things (even as parent you can see the faults, flaws and foibles. And cringe accordingly) and she will be performing in the West End in the next few weeks. So you never know!

I called it a song in the loosest sense of the word. Personally I think its a pile of shite. I was alluding to the fact that the original version has language in it that is not exactly ideal for kids

Hello!!

Sorry for the late reply, I run a kids football team also so it's a late finish on a Wednesday!!

To answer your question, Yes, it's the Radio Edit version so no swearing at all...

It's a Hip Hop track, again not to everyone's taste, but that's what we do..

I agree that smaller groups are better, they are tighter, alignment so much better & easier to judge & use the space provided, but I don't think a small group would fill the space, we want to hit everyone in the stadium so a larger group is more eye catching but yes a lot harder to keep everyone together... But, I really don't think it's as bad as some of you make out, again your opinion & again I'm cool with it..

The choreography is of a very high standard, there isn't one repeated piece in the whole 5 minutes, so we don't cheat & do verse chores choreography, it's all new everytime & Fresh, we have a fantastic list of choreographer with some amazing credits...

Thank you for your feedback though, either negative or positive, I'm a very positive person so i try and take everything and make it into a positive & use it, so the next performance we will have a look at it & see what we can do...

Finally good luck to your Daughter in the West End, it's amazing performing down there, I've done it a few times & run workshops there & the buzz is top class..

Take care

Rich
