Birmingham awayI get so bored int closed season. Not been to bad last few seasons, couldn't wait for it to finish and didn't look forward to it restarting.
But, as we all know this season was exceptional, hence I'm kicking the cat early waiting for the fixture list and the season to start. So, I got to guessing who our first match will be against and I'm going to guess our first match back in the championship will be ........
Aston Villa awayAnyone want a guess? Bit of fun to check on 21st June

Would they let us play Wednesday in the first match of the season? Is it completely randomised or are there certain exceptions that they make, like for derbies?
Have we ever played Wednesday in the first game of the season before?

Or some other naff away fixture....Cardiff would be a similar shit first game
If you look at the fixtures on the opening day across the divisions, it often follows that they seem to pair one of the stronger clubs in the division versus a relegated club from the division above. I correctly guessed our opening fixture would be versus Bolton this season, for that reason.
So I am going to stick with that line of thought and expect that we will play Hull, Middlesboro or Sunderland on the opening day of next season. Home or away? No idea. But I'll guess at Sunderland at home. A fixture we have had once before on the opening day of the season, when some fans will remember Vas Borbokis brilliant debut and tremendous goal from a free kick?
We can beat them again on the opening day of next season. Heavily I hope!
Line of thought falls down slightly though as we won't be considered one of the stronger clubs in this division.........yet, so we won't get one of the relegated premiership clubs.
Feckin hope not!Reading away.
