I think it's a pretty decent write-up, the ranking notwithstanding and you can't really blame them for that one either. It's certainly better than most I've read this summer that are churned out to fill the gaps on crap websites when they run out of transfers to wildly speculate over. Putting us bottom or near bottom isn't unreasonable, it's just the sheer laziness and snobbery you detect in the reasoning.
To me, most of these bad predictions seem to fall into three categories.
One is on the kind of website that's mainly made up of Top Ten clickbait articles (number 5 will shock you). The writer flips a coin to decide whether Liverpool or Man City wins. Then it comes to the three for the drop and he decides that for the past few seasons, 2 out 3 newly promoted sides go back down, that's 2 of his sorted and as he knows Villa's name and sees they've spent a load, decides that's the safe one. Another coin toss to decide the third relegation spot and he buggers off for lunch.
Another believes they do proper research because they open up a wikipedia tab. They see we were in League 1 not long back and still have some of that squad in place now. In truth they know bugger all about League 1 but think they do so they imagine us playing teams like Worksop Vikings and Macclesfield Athletic or something and all the squads are made up of blokes who are brickies and gas-fitters in the week. Therefore presumably we're a team of cloggers who've jumped 2 leagues merely by fluke and we'll be shown up for that now. They don't say as much but change the phrasing to workmanlike, honest and traditional because they reckon us northern folk will see it as a compliment. They'll mention Warnock because that backs them up somehow.
Third looks might open up another browser tab with a few stats because they figure the key to success is appearing to know all the teams but they still make wild assumptions. They see a good defensive record so write that we "have a well drilled back four." They might see Wilder has an amazing win ratio or has achieved so many promotions but they don't quite believe it because he's english but they do see a picture of him thumping his chest so they put "passionate manager" in. They might also chuck a line in about a "aptly named talisman striker, Billy Sharpe" because they think it makes them look clever. Maybe they come across the phrase overlapping centrebacks which they don't quite understand so they assume it means everyone gets thrown forward and the keeper lumps it up so they put a bit in about us being "exposed on the counter in the fast-paced premier league game" because we must slow, ponderous and reckless. Then they hit post and wonder how long before they'll be stood in front of a screen on Sky sports transfer centre.
