It seems a lot of fans in the modern era base their opinion of a player entirely on stats. I see it a lot on Twitter - idiot FIFA players throwing out someone's average rating on FotMob as undeniable proof that he's amazing/the worst player in the world (because it has to be one or the other).

Ridiculous that they publish that kind of stuff in The Guardian. I would strongly suspect the writer has never watched any of those players in the flesh.

Totally devastated about this, he's carried the team but in fairness he's bigger than the club is now. We have to come around to reality even if it means an ambitious club having our pants down for £35m.
