Goodbye, Rhian Brewster

Obviously it's been a poor poor signing but if he stays injury free we may aswell back the lad for his last season. Not like we have the money to buy many strikers.
I’ll happily back him if he does well, but if he carries on being wank some people need to admit he’s actually wank.

If you forget the fee and wages... he's still been crap.
Don't doubt the lad had talent but we've not seen it .
It's a shame but definitely a squad filler this season

First season in Prem we were useless (no fans) and barely got the ball near our strikers. He had a couple of promising weeks in Championship but plagued by injuries.

He won the u17 world cup with England (golden boot winner). Smashed goals in for Liverpool youth and reserves. Liverpool poached him from Chelsea as a teenager. He is definitely not shit at football.
There’s untold numbers of great U17 players that turned out (relatively) shite. I strongly suspect Brewster will be another, but the enormous fee we paid will fool others for a few more contracts yet.

He’s looking off the pace a bit first half v Harrogate, to be expected though after injury. Let’s hope he can stay fit and injury free.
'off the pace a bit'! Ffs.
He had three chances most decent strikers would have put away. He missed every one. Surprise surprise.
Virtually every blade made an impression v Harrogate.
Except Brewster!

He had 3 chances and was unlucky with 2 of them. They weren't 'sitters' by any stretch of the imagination.

Brewster will get his chances this season, but I fear it will be his last season if he doesn't deliver.

On a side note, the young midfield lad Hampson who got the 3rd was excellent. The vision, run from midfield and finish was top notch. Would love to see him on the bench as a regular.

Every outfield Blade!

Thought he did okay last night. Nothing spectacular, but got himself involved and didn't hide away from the ball. Showed good movement to find space for the chances he had, and on another day maybe 1 or 2 of those go in. Think the defender did well with his chance on the right foot 1st half to get back and block, but the 2 2nd half were the ones you'd love to see go in. The 1st one is a matter of inches from going in off the post instead of bouncing out, and the 2nd one is very close as well. He did well with both chances considering he had the keeper rushing him down as well.

He needs some consistency this season. He's had moments here and there where I've thought that we were going to see the real Brewster, and then he's gotten injured again. If he can keep fit, I can absolutely see him contributing this season.

He still has the confidence to take a shot on. He's not a lad who is making shitty runs so he isn't given the ball. He is making himself available to try and score. So whatever they are doing with him in training is working, and he still has the confidence to put his training into practice in a match. He just needs regular match time to take that practice and make good on it.

Nice lad? The blokes a complete dickhead. Just look at how he conducts himself.
You know him personally, do you? I can't think of anything noticeable that he comes across as a dickhead. You could say the Wednesday are shit shouts on the town hall were a bit strange for a player that hasn't contributed much, but doesn't make him a dickhead.

Moore missed an open net against Chesterfield. Brewster got in the right positions, hit the post & put a couple of players through in the first half with some neat flicks & passes. We need another striker no doubting that, but he's been out for a long time. He's going to be rusty. He bagged 3/4 goals in pre-season 2 years ago & that didnt mean anything in the proper season, neither does missing a few chances in this pre-season.

Id rather that than him carrying on his form of the last 4 years. Let's try and get something for the money we paid
Wonder what he’d need to do to be considered value for money given his last 4 years. I’m gonna go with 85 goals and burn down hillsborough.

For context I reckon we got our moneys worth from Lys Mousset within 4 months, regardless of what followed.

I so wanted this lad to do well, but unfortunately me and my mate spotted Brewsters shortcomings quite early. Yes he’s been unlucky with injuries and his obvious determination to try and justify his price tag has probably hampered him. But for a striker, his lack composure in front of goal is there for all to see, and his work off the ball as well as his ability to read the game are simply quite poor.

Nah he will hit 20 goals this season
Not a cat in hell’s chance will Brewster get anywhere near double figures for us, in this or any other season. Much as I’d like to be wrong I won’t be. He will get injured, yet again, spend ages recovering, have a setback or two and next thing you know it’s May 2025 and someone from the club’s socials team has put together a natty little video showing his highlights and thanking him for his service, and wishing him good luck.

Pinning our hopes on Brewster is akin to planning for your financial future based on winning a huge Euromillions jackpot. Theoretically possible, but highly unlikely.

grbic didn't have that much to do and he still did I it poorly.

Brewster will not score ten this coming season!

I believe he's in the final year of his contract, if he's scoring regularly by Christmas we might have a player, if not we should look for offers, otherwise release him next year,

I think there's more chance of Louie Marsh scoring 10 this season than Brewster managing it, sadly. Would love to be wrong but past performance is the best predictor of future performance and all that.
