Good corners create goals

3 corners - 2 great chances of which we score one , Maguire fluffs a free header on the other , plus a nailed-on penalty when Kane is wrestled to the ground.
You wouldn't believe the number of folk on here who think the Blades' poor corners in 17/18 haven't cost us , because statistics say corners don't bring chances & goals.
I hope they're watching the England match.
And I hope the Blades are more threatening from corners in 18/19.

Having Maguire / Stones / Kane on a side helps massively.

To be fair all we did is aim for Maguire. Shows that a big man makes a decent corner into a goal.

As a team we aren't very tall or physical. JOC is strong but not that tall, Stearman is tall but not that strong, Clarke and Basham are ok.

I'm hoping we get a big dominant centre half and a beast of a centre forward in the window to help both attacking wise and defensively at set pieces.

We need to aim higher than that shower of shite England put out tonight otherwise we are certs for relegation.

The value of good corners and having players capable of getting up like Stones and Maguire will always give you a chance.
JOC should do better than he does and i'd hope that he looks at the likes of Stones and Maguire and sees how they get up and and over the ball. The header from Stones for the first goal was an absolute belter.

But the other point is that England had a player, in Harry Kane, that was ready to pick up the scraps and follow up on anything dropping. We have Billy for this.

Big.

Bigger.

Biggest.

Good football creates good goal scoring opportunities. This can of course include set plays, but more frequently comes from open play, probing, retaining possession, recycling, looking to create overload opportunities.

You know. that side to side Shyte that you all love so much ;)

Having Harry Maguire in your side for corners is effectively cheating. The Tunisian defense could have had a step ladder & would still have lost every header against him. He's a man mountain in the air.

JOC should do better than he does and i'd hope that he looks at the likes of Stones and Maguire and sees how they get up and and over the ball.

When we played Leicester in the league cup, JOC was given the task of marking Maguire and got absolutely bullied. It's odd, because O'Connell looks like he has every attribute to be a menace at corners. I don't think he's nasty enough.

England were far better than Tunisia all over the pitch. There aren’t too many games in the Championship where’s there’s such a difference in quality between the two sides or where a team would defend corners as poorly as Tunisia did.
I’m struggling to recall a game I’ve seen recently where two goals have been scored by a team, before yesterday.

I read about a bloke who sabotaged his wife’s parachute to try to kill her but although the chute failed she survived, so, on that evidence, we don’t really need parachutes.

It's not been proven yet that he tried to kill her.

Maybe he just wanted to teach her a lesson.
