Personally I think it’s a case of 3 keepers playing for a contract whether that’s 1 or 2. Get rid of Davies potentially look to offer Amissah a new deal mainly because of his physical presence and then review in the summer with either a loan option as number 1 or a player on a free. Anyone brought in on JTW will be expecting Premiership wages, yes we can have relegation clauses in there but we aren’t exactly an attractive option at the moment.

Based on what I know they were paying Smith before he signed for the pigs we should easily be able to afford to double the keeper’s wages and still not be paying fortunes.

He won’t be on big wages, going off a quick google search puts him in the £180k a year bracket but it’s whether he can step up. Yes we are a bigger club than Rotherham but to all respect to him and Rotherham we will be looking to compete at the top end of the Championship next term. He hasn’t yet had any experience of that and being under pressure of 25k+ fans. Is it the case of raw potential or more

Comes out flaps at a cross that gets knocked back in out of his reach
He just looks too small and often keepers like that look heroic when they are making regulation saves

I have the same reservations about this guy I had before we signed ramsdale and he reminds me a lot of him

Owls supporting colleague who goes a lot says Johansen has been dreadful in every game against them. He likes Cooper but as is injured suggested Randolph as an immediate upgrade on Wes

Do we need a new one?

The question is too simplistic.
Of course we need a new goalie, the same as we need a new defender, a new midfielder and a new striker.

Said all along (even last season) Wes is mid table average Championship level, like some of our other players.
So if we're relegated then Wes is acceptable (not great) in the Championship. We were prompted last season with him, so he's good enough.

The answer is
"Yes....we should be looking to improve all areas....including the keeper"

I suppose it depends on what opportunities arise regards finding replacements.
It's going to be difficult to find better at a lowish price.

Wes has never ever been good enough for us

I really don’t understand;

Whenever we get promoted we always go for the cheap option signings and call them development players, or players from the league we have just been promoted from, we never go for the finished article, and then we’re surprised when we get hammered by teams who have signed older players with years of PL experience.

Now I see 2 keeper names being mooted for the JTW one of them is Viktor Johansson the current keeper for the team at the bottom of the Championship who has shipped 50 goals this season in a league lower than ours.

We need a quick fix a keeper with years of PL experience maybe one who has won the PL trophy, may be one with a family history of world class keepers, what was that other name? fuck it, doesn’t matter, we’re having Johansson because he’s 50 quid cheaper.

FFS, no wonder we can’t put together a sustained period in the PL with our recruitment policy.
