After seeing their goal again it was a case of nothingness from Wes. Not an attempt to really get at the player and the cross. He knew he’d dropped a bollock straight away by coming out for it. To be honest I thought he was nesh. More worried about not getting hurt hence his feeble arms up as if he was attempting something. A change is required asap.

I've just posted this on the 'Player Contracts' Thread;-

I imagine that we will be bringing in a keeper If there is any truth in the rumour that Wes is on his way out due to the high wage demands in his contract negotiations!, and the club can't afford to pay it!!.

This is only a RUMOUR!, (which was being discussed by fans sat behind us at the last home game)

If there is any truth in the above!, then Wes is not exactly doing himself any 'Shop Window' favours with his errors!!

Aye
Or
Trusty is close enough to his man & (or) aggressive enough to challenge / compete with / beat Zaniollo (“shout for” / “charge at” the ball” ?!?!)
Ultimately it was a quality cross that ‘created’ hesitation/ indecision / confusion
If the keeper shouts it’s his ball. A defender should get out of his way.

Regardless of his wage demands, I would be surprised if we don’t bring in a keeper.

Any keeper facing 25 shots per game and all the other involvement that comes with playing for a team as bad as we have been so far, will inevitably make the odd mistake.

Shoring up what's in front of him means we'll see less of that, and goalkeeper won't be a priority.

I hope.
Villa didn't have many shots on target to be fair, only seem to remember one save in first half.

In a strange way, in retrospect I am quite happy that Wes has made another fuck up today. We were never going to get anything from the game today and it surely must reinforce CWs thoughts that a new decent first team keeper is an absolute must for us now. If he started playing better then United would probably try and make do. But it's clear as say that he needs to be replaced.

We need to look at getting two out and two in in the goalkeeping positions in the next two windows and I would now be pleased to see both Wes and Davies let go in the summer.

Had a decent game today.

Kept being given it under loads of pressure, Alisson would've made a hash of some of them.

Got caught on it once being slow to distribute it, apart from that he made a few decent saves.

Got caught is one word for it 😂 it could so easily have gone in

It’s another mistake

I thought he did ok today, but he was given so many hospital balls by his team mates it was only a matter of time until he was closed down by City.

Every time we were in possession our first inclination was to go backwards, until eventually, as they pressed and left with no other option, we laid it back to Wes, wether he wanted it or not. Pass. pass, pass, pass, oh fuck where’s my next ball? Here Wes you have it, seems to be the strategy.

Robinson did exactly that, then was bollocking Wes, when he kicked it out for a corner. For fucks sake Robbo, you're the outfielder, you fucking deal with it, don't give it back to Wes cos you're being closed down, when Wes is only ten foot away from you, because the player pressing you, will then press Wes!

We even gave it back to Wes, during our only meaningful venture into their half, at about 80 minutes with every United player in City’s half ffs

Wes has been shit, but I don’t think he should be criticised in anyway for today’s performance.

And by now you’d think his tea mates would know he was left footed !!!

Agree it was a mistake. With the amount of ball he was getting he was due one, weighed against all the times he played the right ball and saves he made, about par.

You watching the scab keeper now? With what they paid for him and under half the pressure, he is dreadful.

Matt Turner being shit doesn’t excuse Wes

It shows what you get for £10 million.

How much do we need to spend to improve on Wes? (Who cost us nowt)
Easy answer is Johansson at Rotherham

Harder answer is scour Europe and good keepers are ten a penny (apart from the elite)

Unfortunately we are in an elite league. Wes has been good for us, I'd love us to improve on him and most other positions, but we can't afford it.

He did not do ok
OK by his poor standards maybe
He was so slow getting down for the first goal I thought it was sly stallone
He fucked up twice kicking it out and was very lucky not to Conceed from either of them
He looks slow and old physically and mentally and needs replacing immediately

The areas Wes needs to improve in, can be worked on. I just don't get it. Slow distribution, taking 3 steps to control and clear a backpass etc.

In some ways with our relegation inevitable, they are less likely to buy a keeper now/JTW but see out the 3 keepers we have on the books contracts and rebuild. What’s the point in spending cash when we are off down anyway

Wes is into his thirties do you really think he will get better in any area after years of being a keeper??

Not to what we need, but he can be pushed to do some things better - distribution.
Pure shot blocking will be what it is.
