To be fair, you were quite quick to write Adkins off, so it's unclear where the line is drawn?

As for where Clough got us - I could highlight about 25 players that no other football club wants, anywhere in the pyramid. And I'd still have given him until Christmas.

UTB
I only started questioning Adkins after the Bury game which was February ,he had no foundations laid ,and his tactics, team selection and motivation was a joke even after 8 months. I'm sure Wilder will do better. As for the 25/31/38 players that Clough had supposedly accumulated ,its a load rubbish perpetuated by the club to soften the blow of player sales. A squad of 22 at least is required and Clough would have got rid of a few and bought a few in the summer. Massive mistake in my opinion which we are taking a lot of recovering from.

It'll still be a couple of games until the Wilder Out brigade get into full swing.

Right now, many are happy enough slagging off last seasons top goalscorer and the only one who has scored in the league thus far.
A bad run of form tends to turn many Unitedites into fucking cretins unfortunately.

I wasn't questioning the numbers Clough signed (though it really was far too many), I was making a statement that the quality was dreadful, and the cost way to high.

Other than Adams, we signed an entire squad full of pap. That's not just my opinion, it's the opinion if the entire football world who don't want to sign them.

I'm struggling with the idea you gave Adkins until February too. The foundations weren't being laid because Clough had blown the budget on sub standard players that Adkins couldn't move on. I concede he signed two pups himself. But anyway....

I'm holding onto the hope that Wilder has been through having poor teams and has turned it around, so he has some experience there........and i'm hoping this will over-ride the fact that he has mostly created the crap team so far.

The Warnock in brigade are tuning up though. Only needs Colin on TalkSport to send them a subliminal message and they'll be out in force. ( it'll start with, well Alan, what I did)

No one will wake up this morning hurting more than Chris wilder , he knows the problems and he will rectify them ,some people's reactions are just embarrassing .

HE needs to be fu**ing hurting because half of the witless fu**ers are his players.

Its Wilder who needs to "man-up", march into the boardroom ( if any of the incompetent fu**ers are actually at BDTBL ) or phone the morons up and say something along the lines of .......... " give me the Adams money NOW you tight fisted, incompetent, short-sighted clueless fu**ers or I walk and leave you to do the explaining to the fans" !!!!

New players should have been in IN TIME TO PLAY ON Tuesday, because the writing was on the wall against mighty Rochdale.

This, is going to turn into a clusterfuck of a season imho .........

You can give Wilder all the money in the world . It's how he spends it that counts .

Unfortunately if we are going to be serious about being a successful football club , we have to stop replacing average players with more average players , and pay for some quality . The quality has to be in the backbone spine of the side .

Think Wilder has just learnt this lesson.

All a bit fragmented but Wilder will get it right . New goalkeeper will be like 15 points . At least we and Wilder know we're the problems are .

Could be a lot worst . Watch the shit unravel at S6 and smile.

have a great big like from owd twofoot some of us know our gravy
And some of us knew we had to change our style of play whilst realising at the same time that it wasn't CW's preferred style, that being the long ball anywhere in the vicinity of Leon Clarke which seemed to be the defenders easy way out option.

Well done CW and AK for bringing the Blades back, there's still a long way to go though.

I'm glad Alan Knill gets a mention there. The most fruitful managerial spells are usually the product of a good partnership. I hope Knills contribution doesn't go unnoticed. He's a very nice bloke as well.

What we should all do is man the fook up and clap clap clap the team into division four/league two  then we will have the right manager for the job in Wilder.
Nothing at all to suggest he is any good at this level so far, let's be right he is just another in the line of managers who will become the scapegoat for McCabe. We try those that like the passing game then when it dont work we get in a ex Blade who tries hoofball and the cycle continues.
One or two on here need to open their eyes and see where the real problem is at SUFC, after all their is only one constant through our years of decline and that is the owners.
Its all gone quiet over there.

I must admit I felt as down as I've been in years after the third or fourth game. Couldn't see how to get out of the mess, Chris Wilder looked like a broken man who was about to resign, knowing we couldn't sack yet another manager. And now, just two months later, I'm as excited to go to games as I've been in ten years. We've forgotten how to be patient, in this 'have it now' generation. Let's hope this feel good factor continues.

It's funny to see panic and short-termism.

By short-termist, I mean people who panic after 3 games and people who think those people were short-termist because they have been 'proven' wrong after 15......

The wilder claims of whom make me glad that the season ends 3 days after Guy Faulkes' Night.

Mind you, we'll just have to take our chances in the play-offs yet again, see you at Wembley on Xmas Eve.

Last night was another horrible low, just how much more do we have to take?

Not having a go at you I sat in stunned silence last night on the South Stand watching old men who should know better offering each other a fight.

The club just seemingly can't get it right no matter what we do.

This has all the feel of a relegation season.

shows how much this league fluctuates though chaps - batten down for the season....saying that I want 5 at chezza

Exactly VB! These I told you posts are absolute bollocks when nothing has been proven one way or another.

As I said further up, we still have a long way to go but it feels really good turning up to the matches almost expecting to win them instead of turning up and only getting the maximum of a very average and lacklustre performance.

Long may it continue.

Yes, it's rather like the "Scunthorpe are showing no signs of faltering" nonsense after less than a third of the season. However, and it's a very big however, the reaction after 3 games was completely absurd and the level of our performances at the moment is way beyond anything that would be seen as a flash in the pan.

We are playing really good football. There's a style, swagger and intensity and a real sense of purpose in management and players alike. That ought to overcome even the Bladeyiest inferiority complex.

No more than any other league, except perhaps the Greed is Good Premiership, though even that is interesting for once. That's the nature of the beast. In fact, though, the top four has looked established for a while now. I don't expect that to change much.
