I'm "mildly interested" as to whether anyone posting thinks the NHS App

So far, dissatisfied. I have had a positive PCR result which should entitle me to a 180 day COVID pass. I've inputted the test code and the covid pass hasn't generated (I'm guessing you get some sort of barcode on the app which can be scanned). Perhaps this is evidence that soon enough a positive PCR test or negative LF will count for zilch and the only way to have any permission to a life is by being vaccinated.

Ring 119 for a paper version

I'm "mildly interested" as to whether anyone posting thinks the NHS App is, of itself, evil or dangerous or thin end of the wedge or threatens their human rights or whatever.
I've been using the NHS App for quite a while to manage some health issues I have. Check test results, manage medication requests, assess long term changes, etc. I find it really useful as it brings all my health records into one place & makes them easy to access & read. I find it quite empowering - for eg I have a long standing condition that "flares up" about once a decade. When/if I have to contact the GP about it, it helps me a lot to lookup and know the last time I had a problem & what the medication/dose was.

All my self reported Lateral Flow Tests, PCR Tests, even actually having had Covid, plus vaccination records are stored in my medical records. Which I can access through the NHS App. I want to say - surely no one has a problem with that. But, I want to listen. Does anyone think that is dangerous, evil, etc?

It is from all that detail that the "Covid Passport" is generated & made available in the NHS App. I think the NHS App is a superb resource.

(The NHS App as I've described is not the completely separate NHS Covid Track & Trace App)
I agree entirely. The app is useful.
It’s not the app that would cause anyone to have a problem but a third party accessing you medical records illegally, which has nothing to do directly with the app.

Pretty much echo the sentiments of a few in the thread. Can't be arsed to get in to yet another passport for or against but this just seems impossible to work. As mentioned before the time it will take to scan all the QRs will be huge.

With literally millions likely using it (if all grounds begin to enforce it) amongst all the other people using it if it becomes mandatory for some establishments the app will inevitably have its problems. If for whatever reason it's down, what plan would the ground have in place?

There's also going to be some elderly at the football that won't have smart phones and subsequently no passport, is there a more... analogue option for the passports?
As has been said, you can ring up and request them. You can download them yourself as a PDF onto your phone or computer. Print them off. Whatever.

I've been to a music festival and it takes seconds for someone to look at your phone or a printout. The passports last for a period of time each time you download so there would be nothing to stop that step being completed before the game and covering x amount of games.

What so a 1/4 of way through the season you’ve got to get a COVID passport the bellends that are running this country are clueless they can stick their jabs and passport up their arse nobody is stopping me going to the games. They can’t do it Humans rights discrimination etc

How could anyone access your records ,the security setting up the app is second to none .and why would anyone want to know what Joe bloggs has and what tablets he's had .I'm sure hackers would love to know about my Johnny Giles 😂

Think it might come under emergency covid rules which will be extended .voted for in parliament

You can have a Covid passport which means you can get into the game, have Covid at the same time whilst attending said game and pass it on yet it doesn’t matter because you have a Covid passport, just sit down and have a think of that stupid bollocks for a short while.

If you have Covid. "Diagnosed" by a self reported Lateral Flow Test. And/Or "diagnosed" by a NHS PCR Test. Your "Covid Passport" is withdrawn/suspended for the period of your quarantine/self isolation. In that sense, you don't have/can't use a Covid Passport while you have Covid. (that happened to me btw)

If you have Covid but don’t feel ill and already have a passport you’re going to the game not knowing about it and passing the fucker on because having the passport means you don’t need to have an LFT.🤷‍♂️

Sound. Are you arguing for & supporting mandatory Lateral Flow Tests in the hours before the game? Or am I misunderstanding?

(that was the system for the England games at Middlesbrough)

Yes I am, which as I understand it will not be required when you have a passport. The flaws in this system is there for all to see.

Screen shot Phil screen shot 😉

The laugh is you can't get data when there's 30k at the lane ,it will be a complete and utter shambles .you walk round Shoreham street corner at ten to 3 ,and then as a steward try to put into practice the government's proposals .all I'll say is carnage

You can get data but they make sure you can’t for betting purposes.

My internet has never worked in John street ,so I wouldn't be able to get my covid pass up ,except on screen shot

For the England games where I decided to use Covid Vax Pass rather than self reported negative Lateral Flow Test, I used either a screenshot or the PDF downloaded from the NHS App. There is absolutely no need to rely on data at the point of checking

Doesn't the bar code only last 15 minutes on screen

Which is exactly why I have the paper version. Of course I'll get stuck behind people waving phones above head height trying to get signal but still...

Don't know. I've always used either a screenshot or a downloaded PDF. And I have NEVER had one scanned. Indeed, never seen a scanner. All checks have been by eye. (emphasising my point from earlier in this thread - it is the threat of a check, failing it & not being allowed in to an event that you're desperate to get into that makes a lot of people get a Covid Passport or take a Lateral Flow Test - and hence reduce rather than eliminate the risk of transmission)

I suppose it's a stick to beat people to get maximum Vax rates ,which I fully endorse

why? I don’t like people whacking other people with sticks, it’s bullying.
