It's not like he's done it before. Why would wilder inquire to loan a injured player to come and be on the treatment table. That take a loan spot up when he could loan a player ready to play don’t get it

Are we in desperate need of players who are ready to play? Our squad is huge, and the one position we were light in has already been filled. That take a loan spot up when he could loan a player ready to play don’t get it
I suppose the difference being that this thread isn’t necessarily about Ross Barkley in particular, despite bearing his name. It’s more about overall strategy to squad-building.

We saw this with Holding last season.
Wilder typically likes to see a player play a couple of games in the U21s, building up their minutes... and then make a couple of first team cameos before they're trusted to start.
By that stage, it's March and you've already lost half a dozen games out of a short loan.
His approach to building up fitness is correct, but it makes signing an injured / rusty player a bit of a waste of time...
Particularly this season where we need to be almost perfect (from now) to get top six.
Barkley's wages will be astronomical and it'll probably come with a loan fee.
I'd rather we looked at a permanent option, even if the quality isn't as high as Barkley's, but that can help us in future seasons.
A good market to look at would be players with six months left on their deals.
