Do you not think that horrific board had anything to do with that?
I think you can probably say that for most of the time I've been a Blade - and my first match was against Carlisle in 1970. All managers have had to deal with some kind of mind boggling BS from the board room.

My point is, non Blades can be a success, id say, given the circumstances, he was a success. I certainly enjoyed that period.

Not going to disagree. It's kind of my point. We've had well regarded managers who've been successful elsewhere but never really got anywhere at BDTBL. Is there something about our club that only allows Bassett type managers to succeed? Or flip it around - that means other styles of manager fail?

Bettis said the same NO to a Director of Football with Abdullah as owner just has he has under COH. Bettis has no experience of a well run top level football club just the same as his Saudi pal. His football CV includes Sheffield United Sheffield United and Sheffield United. He is an integral part of the Jurassic Park "cabal" set up at our club. Funnily enough "Steven" not all clubs with a Director of Football/Sporting Director/Technical Director are successful but all successful, well run and forward thinking clubs do have one or more of the 3. But of course you and your "font of all knowledge" buddies know better.

“Stephen’s” decision or those that pay his wages?
Cheers ,
I realise Bettis is nowhere near a PSC , he's a paid CEO who's been given a seat on the board.
My point was , why should he feel threatened by a DoF ?
Who would be just another employee , given the colloquial title of Director (and maybe a seat on the board).
In my mind the DoF would be responsible for everything on the "football" side (especially recruitment which has been a shambles recently) and the head coach would run the all-consuming day to day team & match matters.
I just think the old-style Manager job is too big these days for one man , and I'm not sure whether Alan Knill is contributing much.
The CEO can look after "everything that isn't directly football-related" , the development at Dore , the business issues , the budgets & accounts , the management of our various land assets etc etc.
Anyway , these are just my idle blue-sky thoughts about what to do when the club moves beyond Wilder ,
Which - from Rosen soundbites - appears to ages away.

Pleased l was able to enlighten you about PSCs . 👍

Btw. What makes you think Snek is frightened of a DoF? (”Frightened🤭”).

So I guess all the talk about being able to recognise character is just bullshit then.

Ask Leon Clarke why he scored only one goal after his big money new contract, with 19 goals the season before.
Does an improved pay cheque improve character or desire to be better?

Of course you could also ask the same about Wilder and his improved pay and contracts.

The problem now is the parachute money gone ,been wasted ! The players who's injury record is like sick note or lack of fitnesss should have been moved on ,like campbell lets say .You won't attract a decent fee to sell them and get good replacements in
So united are stuck with a few of them hoping for an improvement in fitness and form unlikely .

It’s not the first time parachute money has been wasted though. The late collapse last season, history repeating itself this season for pretty much the same reasons and the appointment of Selles has really put the pressure on COH.

Re Sneks imaginary DoF role, I doubt Bettis scouted them, fixed fees and wages, did the medicals or is even involved in fitness and training. Some of the wise sages and fantasy posters on here think otherwise though, so l could be mistaken.

Yes, we have never had much money for transfers so have needed bargain basement buys. After the south stand was built the servicing of the debt made the situation worse. Which was why Harry Haslam was appointed with his reputation of unearthing gems. A catastrophic appointment that put us in the 4th division.

No problem it’s about opinions. To me Hecky is bang average but if Slav had been supported it could have been the start of a new era and moved on from Wilder. Just my view.
Completely agree Slav was thrown under a bus and sold a lie why else would he have come
We reverted to type Wilder/Hecky ball and another short term level of championship success -nothing that built sustainability
