However it works I think Sharp will thrive off Hanson's presence and vice versa. They are both experienced strikers and will figure it out.

Based on what? Hope?

Every time I've seen Sharp play with a target man he has looked shit, why will Hanson be any different?

Sharp needs a pacey hardworking striker alongside him, that's how you get the best out of him.

Horses for courses. Dont think anybody is advocating it as the default approach but tonight was an absolute case of 'when needs must' - thankfully our manager thinks likewise. Thats why he signed a battering ram for when the doors locked.

But would we have been as bad first half with either Done or Lavery starting instead of McNulty?

Hanson starting instead of McNulty would have made no difference, we lacked pace and movement up front not a battering ram.

It's amazing how many people forget this.

I think Sharp and Lavery will work well together if used from the start, just as they did on on Saturday until the manager dragged Lavery off then slagged him off.

Won't it be bloody lovely to have a plan b when the opposition has 11 men behind the ball and for all our passing and moving we can't find a way through.

Exactly, if we had still been playing till 3 o'clock in morning we wouldn't have scored.

I went as soon as the second went in so missed the chance to see EEL embarrassing himself upfront again, perhaps Wilder wanted him as far away from our goal as possible, can we tell Wolves we have changed our mind?

I agree about the way The tactics are looking like they are going to go, 4-4-2 and hit the big man as much as possible.

Although the Gerrrit forward brigade may actually think it's a good idea.

Problem was when CW decided to relieve the defence by sending EEL up front, he still didn't win a header.

I don't see us resorting to hoof as some kind of default tactic but at least we can start mixing it up a bit more. Hanson is much better playing on the deck than people give him credit for and might actually give us a cat in hell's chance of putting a head onto one of our crosses.

I am actually quite looking forward to it.

After last night, so am I.

Hanson + Billy gains height but loses (more) pace. We hardly ran at their defence and cause any panic. Lavery looked the biggest threat second half and only wish he'd have started.

Sure Hanson has a role, it's an option from the bench for me. starting with him and Billy doesn't inspire in terms of going at the opposition from the start.

Its coming,....the midfield has lost its way, the defence has lost its mind and Wilder has lost his nerve, witnesses the even earlier panic of putting EEL up top tonight.,

By 50 minutes into the Wimbledon game we will be firing howitzers up there hoping Sharp can get on the end of a Hanson flick on. Soon even Pinchy will be looking back on the front two of Sharp and Done as some sort of golden age.

I can not believe how it's fallen apart so quickly... gutted. :(
Wow the team has a blip which happens to all teams through a successful Season an this is how we react. I was embarrassed by the booing at half time and full . We are adding players and making real progress . Will will get back to winning ways but the negativity that sounds this club is raising its head again

I'm presuming whoever signed him up on a 31/2 year contract at Wolves will be collecting their cards this morning.

One of the worst defensive performances I can remember. Sloppy passing, mis-kicking and for the majority of game, bullied. And if you haven't seen Fleetwood's second, Christ.... don't.

Not sure if the big man needs a rest, but wilder needs to try give him some confidence back.

Our upturn in form earlier in the season seemed to stem from the loan signing of EEL FL, but of late, he has badly lost his way, lets hope he can rediscover his mojo, be that by shoring him up with Jake, or a spell on the bench. Wouldn't get in the Wolves U23 side on current showing.

Blip it may be and fucking hope so. but last night was vintage reliable bubble bursting United. The atmosphere was as dreary, half arsed and inspiring as the performance. The entire spectacle was bewildering.

So the Plan B is hoof it long to Hanson and hope a packed defence can't stop a flick on?

Maybe plan B is to have someone on the end of the numerous crosses we put into the box as a result of the measured, patient, passing football we usually play that creates the opportunities to get these crosses in?

Just a thought.

Possibly mate. He definitely looked a million miles from a starting championship player last night. Even when your skill levels and outward effectivity is low, as CB you must maintain your basic defensive discipline and duties. Can't be a fairweather centre back. I've still faith mind.

Wilder slaughtered the team on Saturday in the press, if he can have a go at the players why can't the fans?

He certainly doesn't play the central role in the three CH's well, probably because he's not experienced enough. He needs Wright as the central CH to organise imho and this should have happened for the Gillingham game as well as last night.

What it does highlight is that ( as commented by Wolves fans) he's not good enough for the Championship so for me, all talk of £1m + fees is absolute rubbish.

I take your point but Sharp had neither a pacy or a hardworking player alongside him for much of last season and still bagged 20. Therefore I would argue that he can and will adapt, further to that he hasn't played alongside a physical presence like Hanson for quite a while, certainly not since he came back to us. We shall see.

Ah, those jerking S2 knees. I'd never have guessed...

I'm comforted to see that nobody with any intelligence or sense wants us to Hoof it. Happily, Tufty made it crystal clear in his post-match interview that he will be sticking to the principles that have taken us to the top of the league. Interestingly he also referred to Samir as a "proper player". Boo will be demanding to know what he means!

Calls for the return of Runaround are as sadly predictable as they are risible.

And the Bassett side was 30 years ago against sides who trained on beer and chips and were knacked by 60 minutes with only one sub to bring on.

It won't work today.
So by your logic, Currie and Woodward who played 15 years earlier were worse players than those in the Bassett era?

I welcome success and how it is achieved is always up for debate but whatever a manager does to bring success I will support.
