What I saw of it; some Norwich fans (late teenage I would guess for the most part) were coming down the steps chanted a few songs about Wednesday. At this point a group of United fans decided to wade into them and essentially start battering a few. Yes they fought back but it was United fans who started the physical violence. Again.

All this nonsense about the game and the referee is exactly that. Yes we were frustrated about the result and some of the antics and yes they might have chanted a few songs about our neighbours but is that really cause to wade into them and actually even threaten safety of many people who were just minding their own business? I saw a few kids who were United fans look shook up by it. It was pathetic behaviour. I am surprised by one or two defending it on here; really am.

I am getting a bit tired of this...'it takes two to have a fight and both were going at it'. That might be the case but it seems to be trouble is following United around...we already had the incidents at Boro this season. We have to admit that we really do have 'some' moronic 'fans'....the sooner these are caught and banned the better.

I rarely take my lad away from home because of the moronic behaviour of some of our supporters. That is quite a sad state of affairs really.
I never take my son away these days because he's 38:)

i can't comment on Sat as didn't see anything.

As a general comment though, only on the rarest of occasions have i ever felt i was genuinely at risk of getting dragged into bollocks with opposition fans. From my experience, those that do, tend to contribute to the situation kicking off. I wonder how much sympathy I'd get if i walk down Penistone Rd next Sunday indiscriminately offering folk out and end up listening to the match in Northern General? Fck all I imagine.

Walking out of Reebok on Tues and some young and giddy Blades (16 at most) were chanting 'easy'. They quickly attracted some 'fck off ya yorkshire bastards' comments and for a moment I thought there could be a bit of bother. As it was pissing it down and the kids immediately shut up, nothing kicked off.

If you take responsibility for your own cocking about behaviour, chances are you'll always be fine. If you fancy exchanging blows with fellow knuckle draggers then crack on, I couldn't give a shit.

Agree with you that most of the time you can avoid it if you're not looking for it. However, incidents like Saturday where it sounds like some middle aged Norwich fan just got whacked from behind shows it can still happen at anytime if you're unlucky. And that video of some middle aged meatheads storming the away end on Saturday is just bloody embarrassing!

Its fucking stupid and pointless - football violence is for half-dick cunts who can't fight on their own.

Maybe. I disregard events at the game because I have the mental capacity to do so. Those that rely on brawn however...

I'll be able to spot you then the next time we score, you'll be the one person manfully sat down ignoring it. :)

Look at the post on Owlsonline about "Bladesmen Culture" - you'd think you sweets came owt of their arse except things like this happen which make em look fookin, well, ridiculous

Not the best written piece but no one can blame them for bias on this one. But this is what I'm talking about. The sentences are pathetic. The article is full of quotes saying how appalling it was, "the worst he'd ever seen" etc etc, but - despite the star adding all the sentences together to make it look worse, which is scandalous mis-reporting all media use - the very worst sentence is 4 years. Bearing in mind he'll serve only half of that - who came up with that idea? - and bearing in mind he already had previous, that should be at least 10 years served fully. The least should have been 4 years.
What does a few months inside say about the society we want to live in? They'll be out and causing trouble, making more victims, before you realise it. And I bet they find a way to still go to Wednesday games.
This is the world we live in because we make it this way.

Agree, some of the sentences handed out are almost non-existent. Not sure what's going on with our courts. Violent crime hardly seems to result in any time locked up at all. Commit any sort of financial stuff like fraud and you seem to be banged up for a lot longer. It's like those 3 cretins who were in the news this week for glassing that lad it The Globe - they haven't even had to do any time !

One of them got more time for rape.

TBH those that cause trouble, and especially the old BBC lot used to get tickets from various sources, so normally do get to go to the derby match, above those who have loyalty points etc.

Sorry I don't quite follow, do you mean he got more time because he had previously been convicted for rape, or he had previously served longer for a rape?

Sorry, meant he'd previously been sentenced to five years for rape. Proper scum whom most, but obviously not all, the Wendy "characters" ostracised.

i dont want to condone the fighting but we have to be realistic the rumoured fighting outside wouldnt surprise me, as end of a game was a ticking timebomb waiting to go off & Norwich players have to take there share of the blame because the keeper didnt help & was asking for trouble, when goading the kop at Full Time fanning the flames of some pretty angry fans who wanted to grab goalkeeper by the throat

& all it would take was 1 word said out of turn either way. it would all kick off like it did. im usually a calm man control his anger but tension was high with me so other with shorter fuses. sounds horrible but im amazed it was just 2 or 3 that got hit

To imagine that any form of violence is acceptable because of the result of a game of Football is utterly unrealistic in my world. All it demonstrates is a level of intelligence that belongs to our Neanderthal past. The poor kid that hit the curb could well have died yet some believe this is all an acceptable and inevitable part of the game.

I saw plenty of this shit in the seventies and it makes me as sick now as it did then.Sounds to me like you do condone it by blaming it on their Keeper rather than lack of self control.Grow up FFS and think about what might happen to young kids getting involuntarily caught up in someone else's immature shit because they can't cope with a wind up.

The vast majority of our fans are decent people wanting to enjoy a "Game". It is not and never has been "A matter of Life and Death"
I doubt Chris and Alan would thank anyone for bringing sanctions to our good name. It's only chuffin Football.

We will lose more games in a similar manner this season I am sure so let's show some class and rise above it.

I was sat right behind the goal on the 2nd row from the front.

Their goalie Gunn was receiving plenty of abuse for time wasting but in the 2nd half he seemed to revel and enjoy playing the pantomine villain. It seemed to be personal because he was kept smiling and winking at fans near the front whilst doing his time wasting antics. I put it down to mutual banter.

However on the final whistle he turned around facing United Kop and punched the air, laughing and gesturing trying to incite a pitch invasion . Two Norwich players saw the potential trouble and sprinted over to grab hold of Gunn and turn him around so he was facing the Norwich fans.

The deliberate incitement by their goalie at the end hasn't received any media coverage, it was irresponsible.

It's always been the same as far as I can remember. You could kick the shit out of someone for no reason and stay out of prison but get banged up for nicking a lawnmower from a shed.

I was they had taken the lawnmower instead of the bike then. :D

its alright being mr hindsight after the event, being mr righteous after everythings calmed down & your sat at home. im not condoning it or agreeing with it & im sure the people are regretting there actions waking up this morning but im giving the reason for why because its human nature as i say heat of the moment few pints resentment bubbling for 1/2hr. bringing both fans out ar same time was recipe for disaster 1 slight thing from either fan would set it off.

anyone who has been angry at some point which is 100% of the population. knows why it kicks off. you wont like it but you have you wake up & smell the coffee
There is nothing righteous about abhorring violence and being able to control ones temper.
Much about decency and life you do not understand perhaps.

Surely that's just a bit of player-fan banter that goes off all the time. The amount of sh!t that players take off the fans, you got to expect them to give it back a bit sometimes.

Is this the guy that applauded the away fans rather than leave the pitch after going down injured. It was at that point I felt the atmosphere turn very hostile

Yep, wouldn't leave the pitch, that's the lad

So Michael Doyle at West Ham was wrong to wind them up and they had every right to batter our fans after then game as a result?

Grow up, it's part of the game and you're not adult enough to take it on the chin stay at home.

Pots/ kettles, swings/roundabouts?

Where did I say anything about not being able to take it on the chin? I simply stated what I saw and when things started to turn nasty. Looks like others saw it as well.
