Personally think its ridiculous to use the human rights argument to prevent keeping away fans in for an extra 10 mins which would prevent (to a large degree) these confrontations. I remember back in the seventies being quite happy to be kept in.
The health and safety of departing fans should surely override in this situation .
On a purely practical note, why cant they park the coaches on the other side of the road closer to the ground and position stewards at the ends, this would make it a short step for away fans to get into the coaches and at the same time create a natural barrier between home and away supporters

You'd think in these circumstancrs stopping possible public disorder would override any bedwetters complaints but can you imagine the grief they'd get from our coked up tossers, who wanted to be on their way to shout at people and filming it, pretending they were actual hooligans?

What I saw of it; some Norwich fans (late teenage I would guess for the most part) were coming down the steps chanted a few songs about Wednesday. At this point a group of United fans decided to wade into them and essentially start battering a few. Yes they fought back but it was United fans who started the physical violence. Again.

All this nonsense about the game and the referee is exactly that. Yes we were frustrated about the result and some of the antics and yes they might have chanted a few songs about our neighbours but is that really cause to wade into them and actually even threaten safety of many people who were just minding their own business? I saw a few kids who were United fans look shook up by it. It was pathetic behaviour. I am surprised by one or two defending it on here; really am.

I am getting a bit tired of this...'it takes two to have a fight and both were going at it'. That might be the case but it seems to be trouble is following United around...we already had the incidents at Boro this season. We have to admit that we really do have 'some' moronic 'fans'....the sooner these are caught and banned the better.

I rarely take my lad away from home because of the moronic behaviour of some of our supporters. That is quite a sad state of affairs really.

Something seemed to trigger this and I'm not so sure it was anything to do with the game or the ref. I was on the kop and towards the end of the game I noticed half of the South Stand stood and started gesticulating towards some of the Norwich fans. They were incensed about something. Usually it's just H block doing this kind of thing but people right up to the halfway line were clearly angry. I heard it mentioned some Norwich fans were chanting about Sharp's son. Not that it condones what happened of course.

The Norwich fan who got knocked out was seen to offer out several United fans before someone accepted his invitation. Other Norwich fans were goading fans with pig songs. Why would you do that when surrounded by thousands of United fans? They should have just enjoyed their win and made their way home without acting like tosspots.

I sit in G block and witnessed it all on Bramall Lane.

Not having a dig at you mate but you're the 4th person today who has mentioned Norwich fans singing about Sharps son.

I heard absolutely nothing of the sort yesterday and firmly believe it was made up by a Blade on Twitter.

Sounds like the type of incident that happens with Millwall
every week.
And many other clubs up and down the country. I have seen far more football violence at games not involving the Blades than I have at our games. The mock outrage on here is ridiculous.

So any violence that our 'fans' are involved with is ok because you have personally witnessed others doing the same?
Bullshit. There's absolutely no justification for the violence yesterday, at boro or anywhere else.

If people think hanging back 5 minutes is really suffering, then there's an ocean between how I and they see the world.

No method of policing would have avoided the Sunderland situation. "Suffering" a 5 minute wait (ironically we ended up being forced to wait for about 15 minutes) would have avoided it.

Some people's human rights, and how easily they can be abused, are uttterly absurd to me.

I would agree if it really was just 5 minutes, but it's not, it'd have to be 15 to 20, plus being herded from stand to bus, then there's the ban on travelling unless it's on a sanctioned away bus, and not selling tickets to anyone with the wrong post code, not to mention other things that also happen like the cordoning off of whole sections of seats, games played early to stop fans drinking beforehand... all of this is done because a small minority think that because a goalkeeper took the piss on the field it's alright to lay in to some away fans after the match - or whatever reason they give for it. These twats have their macho fun, we all suffer for it. I wouldn't personally describe it as human rights, I would just like to see those responsible dealt with properly.

I left a few minutes before the end and walked down John street and then bramall lane. I only saw two policemen who were both playing with a fan's dog which ibfound strange. Regardless, anyone who asks out hundreds of home fans is a dick and anyone who attacks another person over football is a dick too.

Can't we just move a portion of home fans and away fans and most of the SYP into the cunts thread and be done with it?

I was at a local match on Saturday afternoon, it all got a bit tasty when I suggested to the opposition player who was running the line that his flag for off-side was mis-judged. A discussion ensued and reached it's peak when the team captain told me to "fuck off". A couple of witty retorts and the situation passed. And then a couple of laughs as the match continued.

It is possible to have a difference of opinions at football without wanting to assault someone. Or appear to be doing so on social media.

These wanna-be warriors really are pathetic, have they ever faced real peril??

In much the same way that Coventry fans took offence to our songs about SISU?

The worrying thing is that some seem to keep making excuses every time there is something that happens with United fans. It was the police fault, it was their fans goading us, we were not segregated. It's bollox for me. We have some moronic fans (and it seems to be growing. It's not mock outrage. I dont particularly like seeing young kids and families being ushered to safety because a handful of morons dont like an away team singing some songs so decide to wade into them. Scenes at quite a few away games last year, the Grimsby stuff and recently at Boro sadly prove we have a bigger problem than many probably admit. It's simple; find these morons and ban them.

Agree but to disregard events at the game, or any game as irrelivent is sticking one's head in a bucket of sand.

But I'm not talking about all the other stuff, 5 minutes once in a while, would solve a lot of problems.

I think the way they deal with the perpetrators is a different thing. But does anyone really think it's possible to completely stamp this stuff out? Again, we have to manage the world as it is, not as we'd like it.

Maybe. I disregard events at the game because I have the mental capacity to do so. Those that rely on brawn however...

That is funny because I was in the vicinity and heard nothing sang about Billy Sharps son either, and nor did anyone else who I know was in the vicinity of it happening.

It seems like this is something that has been said to justify the disgraceful behaviour of some of our, and frankly like some of our fans, it is fucking embarrassing,

How beautifully understated your description of your weekend 'tête-à-tête' with suggestions of misjudgement, discussions ensuing and witty retorts...great to hear the Corinthian spirit is alive and well in the amateur game. We're you wearing the tweed away kit aswell?

Had the crowd been in double figures, I feel confident there would have been half and half tweed scarves. As it is, a couple or bottles of warm beer sufficed to make the afternoon even more enjoyable.

good post my friend and football violence is just pathetic tossers wanting to look all big and hard when with a gang,on their own they would shit it and run screaming like a child.

But does anyone really think it's possible to completely stamp this stuff out?

I think we could. But not as long as there isn't the will to do it from all quarters, from the courts downwards, especially the clubs - and the will doesn't appear to be there. There also needs to be a zero tolerance from fans towards their own fan minority doing this, which means not giving them the slightest excuse or justification - not the slightest. This thread has seen some people doing that (whilst "not condoning" it, of course )

Which begs the question, had the fan's dog been allowed in to the match ? .... never mind the whole "was it counted in the attendance" debate.

i can't comment on Sat as didn't see anything.

As a general comment though, only on the rarest of occasions have i ever felt i was genuinely at risk of getting dragged into bollocks with opposition fans. From my experience, those that do, tend to contribute to the situation kicking off. I wonder how much sympathy I'd get if i walk down Penistone Rd next Sunday indiscriminately offering folk out and end up listening to the match in Northern General? Fck all I imagine.

Walking out of Reebok on Tues and some young and giddy Blades (16 at most) were chanting 'easy'. They quickly attracted some 'fck off ya yorkshire bastards' comments and for a moment I thought there could be a bit of bother. As it was pissing it down and the kids immediately shut up, nothing kicked off.

If you take responsibility for your own cocking about behaviour, chances are you'll always be fine. If you fancy exchanging blows with fellow knuckle draggers then crack on, I couldn't give a shit.

Absolutely hate the 'well what do you expect to happen' as if people arn't responsible for their own actions when they are angry.

If you can't take abit of abuse/chanting/ a defeat without wading in and smashing folk you're a moron - plain and simple. And you shouldn't be at the game - genuinely hate thinking about people taking family and young kids and then having to witness this.

Our clubs is riding at its highest point on the pitch for the best part of a decade - why are some determined to spoil this for the majority
