Get him gone

I'd take Cooper. Forest played some enjoyable football in the Championship and I'm sure he'd get us playoffs minimum even if don't go up and lose alot of key players in the summer.
He might look like Bugs Bunny but he’s a decent manager

First post on here after being a very long time lurker. I absolutely agree with this one and signed up to put across a similar view.

Personally, I can't be sure 100% about the 'breakdown', and assume that NDA's will be in place both sides regarding the details of his exit, but as someone with more than a passing interest in mental health, the signs were certainly there in the lead up to him leaving. I'd suggest the same possibility with Nigel Adkins too.

Chris loves the Blades, no doubt, but he is deeply and innately wrapped up, professionally, egotistically and socially with the club. He sees himself as the leader, in effect of half the city. The adulation does nothing but add to that, and to the pressure that comes with it. Much as he is one of the lads and 'one of our own' his judgement has been shown to be poor whilst trying to balance the fan/ manager divide.
It's fun whilst it lasts but, potentially, chronically unhealthy for the club and him in the long term.

IMO, we're beginning to see the signs again. His interview after the Millwall game didn't look good and only weeks ago he showed it again when grabbing the team sheet from the interviewer during another one.

I love the club, but really not sure that I want him to have to go again, either if we do go up or not. The effects of the first Wilder PL visit are still there and, personally, I have doubts that I'd either trust him with the big money again or drop the same amount of pressure into his lap that he had last time. The ride has to end at some stage, no matter how desperate some are to have him at the helm.

The owners will be looking carefully, doubtless, at what's happening, despite the silence and distance so far. Personally, I see a natural break coming, whatever happens come May.
Never seen a better maiden post.

And not just coz you've recognised my Wilder conundrum.

You've highlighted the tell-tale signs and emphasized his feeling of responsibility for the happiness of half the city.

Heavy lies the head that wears the crown.

He lives and loves the club.

He's the reason we were ever in the PL instead of in our 15th consecutive season in League One.

We love him not only for turning the club around but equally for the fact that he loves the club more than any manager could love his club , more even than the adoptive Scouser Shanks loved Liverpool.

For a loving fan to consider his departure is NOT disloyalty , as the dogmatic on here want to see it.

Even Chris himself has recently said "there'll come a time ....when I'm not here ..... It could be sooner , it could be later"
(my paraphrasing).

Whether consciously or subconsciously , I wonder if he's beginning to recognise what you & I have recognised.

I desperately don't want him to leave in the very sad fashion of 2021 - he doesn't deserve a departure full of controversy.

Whether we go up or stay down , I want him to receive our heartfelt thanks.

Which means he mustn't wait until we start to fail and slide back to where he found us in 2016.

I don't "want him gone" because of anything to do with this season.

But when he goes , be it sooner or later , I want it to be the celebration of his successes , which he deserves more than any other Blades manager in my lifetime , even Harry , who had a similarly intense relationship with the club and its fans.

Football is just a game and no club is worth a man sacrificing his mental health - certainly not twice.

It certainly does - the fluke injuries to Souttar and Blaster have cooked our goose and the replacement for Souttar hasn't even played -

Signing Cannon for £20m , who can't even get in the team - let alone score or even make any impact - brings an element of farcical self-destruction to our end-of-season.

I have the impression from his tone in recent interviews that Wilder's back wheels are lifting off the rails and the players can probably sense that.
He’s got his money hasn’t he…

Seriously?

What do you want as you get older ?
You'd put money over your mental health ?

Here's a few £m , but the stress you'll be under is unimaginable , because your performance directly affects something you've cherished since you were a kid.

You think Wilder's relationship with our club is built on his salary ?

All sorts of football managers earn way more than Wilder but just bounce happily in and out of clubs because the clubs mean nothing to them.
They're just jobs.
And players are even less invested.

You're very misguided if you put money above your health , be it physical or mental.

My bad 🤭

Jake Cooper ... Steve Cooper

Easy mistake to make

One's the teeth of Bugs Bunny and is the size of a big rabbit.

The other's like a huge handsome commando.

Off to Specsavers this morning 🤣
To be fair I'd be delighted if we could get both in

This crap wouldn't have been posted if we had taken 4/6 points from last 2 games.
Beginning of July we had about 10 players after he had cleared the decks of the crap.
His recruitment was spot on but even as we went into the season no one could have imagined where we are now and the points we have.
Because we have lost the last 2 the cry babies can't deal with it and have to have a bash at Wilder.
PITIFUL!

Superb post mate sums everything up 100 %

I think he was found out at the end of the 2020/21 season. Premier League Managers sussed out how to cancel out the overlapping fullbacks and he didn’t have a plan B. The formation we have now has been forced on him since. I don’t thinks he’s happy with it but he can’t go back. Whether he’s at the club next season or not, we need a change of ethos. I honestly thinked we missed a trick with Slav. His sides before United were great to watch, pacey attacking football. But he was stuck here with a tight Chairman who hoodwinked him at the interview. Now we have ponderous football which I’ve been bored with this season. Ok where in the top 3 but it’s also an entertainment business at the end of the day.

I think it's the right side and left side that has failed us. Hamer isn't natural on the left and JRS isn't as good as we thought he might be.

Very disappointing but agree, it's the overachievement that's given us hope. Just don't have the quality or composure to outwit teams that park the bus and defend a narrow lead
I don't agree. I don't think we've overachieved at all - I think we're pretty damn near where we deserve to be. To say we were unceremoniously dumped out of the Prem, I think Wilder and the team have done well. Don't let's start getting like the pigs - if only we'd bought...

Not really, a lot of this criticism has been all season because of the often ground out undeserved results and unconvincing poor football we've played all season. It's only become more noticeable now because more people have connected the dots between performance and results and started to become vocal.

There have been plenty of posts all season from people having their doubts about Wilder, irrespective of results and league position. While we were top two lots of people harped on about results first and performances don't matter. Now the same poor performances have seen us drop out of the top two when a win from either of the last two matches would've seen us remain in the top two, and more people have become vocal about the sub-standard performances and Wilder not being able to get a consistent tune out of the players that he brought in.

I've backed him all the way this season despite the performances, and he's got away with a lot of the shit we've been producing due to results.

But now results ain't going our way, he deserves all shit coming his way. It has been piss poor all season and his stubbornness has cost us, his strange lack of plan B (has he used to be plenty up his sleeve before) isn't helping and to be honest he looks clueless.

I'm sure he be blaming everything else but himself as usual though.

The goal difference says it all, it backs up what you’re saying, the performances aren’t that of team challenging at the top.

We’ve done just enough all season and that’s starting to look mainly due to have better players and less about the manager.
