George's Saves

I'd say he is as good as where we are in the League, so top 10, I still think the Port Vale keeper (when we got beaten at Vale) is the best I have seen so far this season.

No doubt about it though, George is growing in confidence and is pulling off some great saves. I would like him to stop punching the ball as much, and actually power his way through the crowd and grab the ball. A young ;lad with a long way to go (no pun intended) but showing real promise again.

On the flip side though, you could say if we had him as number one from the get go, we would be higher. That's not a very good logic to go off.

I think that the main difference in George's game from earlier in the season is confidence. Continued cheers and praise, at the games and on here, from the fans will help him continue the run of good form. If the lad makes a mistake, support him instead of barracking him. Another loss of confidence could mean that we get Howard back. The ball in in your court.

Couldn't agree more. Adkins has been praising him pretty much every week. There's another article on the Star website today.

Thing is I think Adkins has a point. The saves on Satdi, and one from Armstrong against Coventry were top class.

I think Howard might have let any or all of them in. Not a criticism, I think he's a decent Division 3 keeper. Long has the potential to be much more than that.

Is that the same poster who said we would be lucky to get one point in December?

No it wasn't, I was the one who said he would be better off as a florist....

...and I predicted we would be be back in the top six by the end of December, which we would have been if the Wigan game had gone ahead because I think we would have won it.

As for Long as I said on the thread of the Bradford game he is making some good saves and has gone five games now without flapping at a corner or costing us a goal Let's hope he keeps it up, I put down our improvement in all aspects of defending to his improvement in form, Edgar's return to form and Brayfords return to fitness.
