On a lighter note two excellent saves from free kicks Satdi. The first was a very good strike and this reaction says a lot.

The second one I thought had deflected straight over, but looking at it again it was a top class save at full stretch with the ball dipping under the bar.

Well played George Long :)

Overreaction.

Get yourself a cold flannel and a stiff drink Trarny. I agree with you fella.

Same way as those who will slate him as not good enough next time he makes an error.

He is a very promising young 'keeper currently playing the best he has and is improving game by game. But he is about 10 years from his prime as a 'keeper.

Very good at the minute, probably going to be a great 'keeper but not best in the league, not quite at the minute. (I'd say top 6 or 7 though).

He seems to be growing back into being the number one again

Morgan said at what was supposed to be the Warnock evening that we need to stick with him and he will come good.

Hopefully he is getting more consistent and more confident as he has played a lot of games for a keeper his age and it should be his time to shine x

I'd say he's the best keeper in League One.
I'd say that was a hard thing to judge personally, unless of course you go to a lot of games in League One. Having said that, he has been in the team of the week for the whole football league twice in the last two or three weeks so you could have a point mate.

Maybe I should qualify that by saying 'best keeper in League One at the moment/on current form" in my opinion of course.

What happened to that poster that was on here telling us all that he would be better off as a florist?

I can't find the bet that Sitwell and myself had about who was going to be number 1 this season.

I have had one worry recently... With Long playing so well in the League, does that mean that Howard will now be playing Cup games... Such as at Old Trafford?!

I think that was the key, games and consistency. I can't remember which match it was but it was around the start of November when he showed his good and bad sides. I said after that game that he needs to start showing the talent he has otherwise we should get rid. I watched him against Coventry and saw a different keeper. He's bulked out for one, but he was also commanding his area and but for a few mistakes, made some crucial saves.

Keep it up George. You might make a keeper yet!

So with Man U approaching, he might get his second game at Old Trafford. The experience will do him good.

Back to being 'a good young prospect' for me..good to see!

UTB!

I think playing first tea

I think playing first team matches is the only way for him to improve commanding his area crosses etc

I don't think he will gain much from reserve matches x

I'd say he's the best keeper in League One.

I'd say he is as good as where we are in the League, so top 10, I still think the Port Vale keeper (when we got beaten at Vale) is the best I have seen so far this season.

No doubt about it though, George is growing in confidence and is pulling off some great saves. I would like him to stop punching the ball as much, and actually power his way through the crowd and grab the ball. A young ;lad with a long way to go (no pun intended) but showing real promise again.
