George Baldock RIP

Awful afternoon. Thought seriously about not going on the grounds I know what I am and that tears would be displayed in public.

So ‘tis what it is. Tears came. Tears subsided. Tears came again.

Grateful to our manager our coach and our players for putting in a performance for our much loved and sorely missed #2 to be proud of.

UTB.

Great all around from the club starting in fan zone to the walking out to the song the Everything else.Everything about today just shows this club is a family club. Something I'm proud to take my son to the games. Also massive praise for the fans again. RIP starman maybe gone but certainly won't be forgotten.

Completely coincidental i’m sure, but i couldn’t help but notice who had the ball at the end of the second minute applause as the match clock went from 2:59-3:00 today
Alfie Gilchrist. Wearing number 2.
I’m in no way religious, so don’t believe it was in any way some sort of ‘plan’ - but it made me smile when I realised.

RIP George.
Completely coincidental too, but it was good that Stevens was involved today. He got a great reception while laying the wreath in front of the South.

Unfortunately the ifollow stream didn’t show any of the tribute, we just got radio sheff and the player standing around the centre circle. Fitting that we won 2-0 for our number 2.

Wasn't able to go today. From all accounts the club, supporters and players did George proud, I am pleased to see the flag was allowed on the kop. The laying of wreaths by CW and Enda must have been very poignant. All in all a very fitting tribute

Beautiful tributes. Watching from afar I cried my eyes out again - especially at full time when they gathered in a circle and wilder layed the shirt down.

I can't even imagine how everyone felt in the stadium, must have been an emotional day but also an amazing experience to witness.

I think some family back in Sheff will be at the funeral as close to Annabel so will be another roller-coaster week.

My thoughts on the matchday tribute;

Music - Starman by David Bowie is a song I always liked anyway. The lyrics "waiting in the sky" took on a different meaning yesterday.

Video - A very nicely put together compilation. The bit on the end where George was interviewing Ndiaye during a pre-season camp and signed off with a 'goodbye' was particularly moving.

Applause & Silence - Observed impeccably well by 99.9%.
I'm unconvinced silent tributes are a good idea in football simply because a fractional % of nobhead football fans can ruin it.
With that said, the Stoke fans did a good job of self-policing and 'shushing' some noise from inside their concourse.

Wreath - Really nice touch from the club and having it laid by Ends Stevens at the RB position going towards the kop.

Gary Sinclair - Did the unenviable job of delivering that tribute and did it tremendously well. It was clear how well he was doing to 'hold back' the emotion to deliver that speech. Well done GS 👏🏽
Posters given out at the end - Nice touch by the club.

I'm not an outwardly emotional person and I envy those who can release tears in public, but there were several moments during the tastefully done tributes where the emotion was overwhelming.

Staff, Players and Fans should all feel immensely proud of yesterday.

♥️🤍🖤

been going to the lane for 60 odd years but the 10 minute constant singing of starman at the end was the most unique and emotional 10 minutes i can remember in all those years saw grown men with tears streaming down their cheeks round us on the kop me included especially when the stadium rose as one off their seats to sing it will live long in the memory r.i.p. starman 😪⚔️

I was very critical of the club after the Boro game and singled out a couple of players which isn’t like me.

Then you get days like yesterday and fall back in love.

Well done United on all aspects of yesterday.

RIP Starman, gone to a pitch in the sky, but never ever forgotten at BDTBL

Haven’t seen the video. Could someone re-post. Thanks.

Does a video exist which shows the pre match tributes and minute's silence for George? I was there but focussed on the line up in front the south stand and missed the wreath laying again. Blurry eyes may have had something to do with it!
I think it will probably be released by club over next couple of days. I videoed it but not brilliant as was too emotional 😢
