I'm hoping we can have a respectful minute's silence before breaking into 'Starman'
They won't. Modern football fans seem to find it very hard to stay silent for one minute nowadays without breaking into applause or song. I find it kind of disrespectful tbh. When someone dies young at 31 you mourn in silence.

Does anyone know about Georges funeral , i know they are private matter , but i just wondered if the public can line the route , i would like to pay my respects and stand by the road somewhere with me Blades top on , if that's possible ??

If its private then that's ok

I was wondering the same, if it's in Sheffield it would have been nice for the cortege to go past the Lane.

I'm going to miss tomorrow. I've been trying to work out how to get but the fact is I'm off work with covid and I feel terrible. A normal game I'd be unhappy but missing this one is particularly painful. I can't honestly justify going when I could pass this on to my fellow fans. A piece of advice if you've not kept up with your covid boosters and your older like me a new bout of covid is very ugly.

So true. I’ve been off work for two weeks with it and it’s hit me for six.

as emotionally charged days go. it couldn't have gone more perfectly. but that was tougher emotionally as than i expected. i thought it would be difficult

might be 1st time ive cried at the lane since we were relegated in 2007. when chris wilder left the wreath & said a few private words that was very tough might have been the toughest part of the day & days like this make you do really strange things. like during tribute ive never wanted to hug Gary sinclair in my 25yrs as much as i did during his speech

for our more expierenced blades it was before my time. but i heard someone say this is 1st day on this scale since mel rees 30yrs ago

I've not been overly emotional about this...may just be me but I struggle to really get too worked up about people I never met, however much of an indirect impact they have on my life. Each to their own though, and no disrespect intended to anyone. I had the initial shock when I heard the news, and some of the tributes have been really touching but still.

That said, the constant, deafening renditions of "Starman" for the last 10 minutes of the game today, as the sun went down over the ground, really got to me. Felt like a proper goodbye to a real Blades legend. The pre-match tribute was excellent as well. Didn't stray too far into OTT territory, and was really well done. Good on the club for organising it all.

Completely coincidental i’m sure, but i couldn’t help but notice who had the ball at the end of the second minute applause as the match clock went from 2:59-3:00 today
Alfie Gilchrist. Wearing number 2.
I’m in no way religious, so don’t believe it was in any way some sort of ‘plan’ - but it made me smile when I realised.

RIP George.
