Woke up this morning having forgotten the news and now have tears down my face again.

I have been fortunate not to have lost many people in my life so I am struggling to understand why I am crying about someone who I never met but he was the epitomy of Sheffield united and was literally one of us.

If you took every aspect of us as a club, put it in a big press and squashed it down, what would be left would be him.

Please keep sharing your stories of him, none are a surprise, but all are special.

What a guy. What a blade.

I was fortunate enough to be in the Copthorne during those infamous promotion celebrations the day after the Ipswich game. I spilled most of a pint down him whilst bouncing around which I apologised profusely for. He grinned at me and said "Mate...do you think I care?!", pointing out that he was already drenched in beer. I cracked up laughing. Fair point, I said.

The only time I ever met the man. That afternoon is a treasured memory of mine. I'll hold it even more dearly now.

Rest in peace, George. Sincere condolences to his family and former teammates.

Rip baldock, one of the if not the best right backs / wing backs I've had the pleasure of watching play for United, a fan favourite 100% work rate and passion and never gave up and a nice guy all round, was still gutted that he wasn't still part of this team.

Star man song will be belted out against leeds and his name chanted, it will be the loudest rendition and give you goosebumps and likewise when we are at home, I hope the fans give him a proper send off.

He was part of that team which created so many good memories in recent times, he really did embody that squad mentality from league one to the premiership first time around. What a player he was too. Struggled to get to sleep last night having seen the news and now it's the first thing I thought of waking up.

Whoever's going to Leeds next week let's make a night to remember with non stop chants about him.

Just woke up to this news, absolutely gutted. I was looking forward to him hopefully playing against England tonight. Heart goes out to his family and it will be a sad next home game for us. RIP furious

Terrible news to wake up to. Can’t believe it not only someone integral to many treasured memories but someone who you thought would be back at the lane for decades to come. Terrible truly terrible

A true shock. Someone who was with us as a club in so many great times, suddenly gone.
All our love to those closest to him.

Fell asleep early last night and woke up multiple texts about this tragic news. Absolutely shocked and devastated
I googled him on on Tuesday to look through his stats to see how he was getting on on in Greece. One of my favourites Blades players. He epitomised everything you want in a Blades player and never gave anything but his best in every game he played. An absolute warrior, model professional and all round good guy. Rest in peace George. I will miss you.

Only just found out,shocking news.
Great player for us. RIP Starman.

Absolutely devastating news. I’ve posted on here before that of the senior players he was particularly good with the youngsters with advice, encouragement and generally making sure they were ok. He was generous with the time he gave them. A top man. The exceptional crop of youngsters we currently have will form a part of his legacy. He certainly played a part in their development and set an example of exactly what being a professional footballer should look like. RIP George.

Same here, went to sleep with a tear in my eye and was the first thing I thought about when I woke up - tears again. Devastating for his friends and family.
He used to go in Gilmours coffee shop on Greystones Road a lot, I live around the corner. If he was heading in or coming out I would just nod and smile and say 'Alright George', he would always smile and reply 'Good mate, you?'. That was it, no more words, I don't like to take up anyone's time but I am certain he would have chatted if I wanted to. But just with that you could tell what a genuine bloke he was, can't explain it but with that and the connection we had with him as a player has really got to me.
Seeing the picture last night with his little kid broke me. RIIP George. Starman is such a fitting nickname.

Such terrible news. Thanks for the great 7yrs you served our beloved club GB.
R.I.P. once a Blade, always a Blade 😪😪
