George Baldock RIP

I’ve just woken up to this in a complete state of shock. He embodied everything about our resurgence under Wilder, a true legend of the club. I’m heartbroken. 31. Christ. I can’t even imagine what his family and friends must be going through.

Baldock was simply one of the best of the best, for reasons both on and off the pitch. He was an intelligent, hardworking model professional who just got it, and embraced everything about being at SUFC and it seems in Sheffield in general

I can't think of someone less natural for this to happen to. It's as shocking and as sad as it gets.

On the pitch he was a tower of strength. In the last promotion season, his return to the side around March was a major catalyst and it never really looked in doubt afterwards. He inspired confidence from fans and team mates alike. The definition of solid. He'd barely ever be beaten by a winger. He was also a very decent footballer. I have no doubt that if it wasn't for injuries, he'd still be in the PL now

One post mentioned 'win the league for Baldock'. I think that's incredibly powerful, and a real motivator. Along with singing his name at every game this season, it's the best tribute we could possibly pay him

Same I have just woken up to this. I’m in shock . Incredible player for us. Always gave everything on the pitch. Didn’t know him. Never met him. But I’m in tears

RIP George, dreadfully sad news for his family, friends and the Blades community

absolutely devastated at the George Baldock news. for me i had to wait for conformation from major outlets like sky sports & bbc sports

but what a man. if ever a man summed what it was to play the blades. it was him, the amount of times his passion just on its own turned games & won us games. by him lifting the players & crowd on his own.

his walk to the crowd at Full Time after our win v wolves & him screaming at us. us screaming back. showed what we all loved about Furious George & 1 of few memories i cherish of the PL season (i counted 4 😃) being just 3 rows back. i still smile when i think of that. he will be a huge loss.

i wasn't ready for that 😭

This is gut wrenching news George was a true Blade who always gave is all.
Thoughts and prayers go to his family at this sad time 🙏

Tragic and unexpected news to wake up to!

As others have said, he really embodied everything that this club means to people. And even when we were incredibly bad as a team, he always put in 100% and was never one to shirk.

Seemed a friendly, loveable and intelligent person off the pitch, too.

Completely shocked by the news when I saw it on the BBC website.

One of my favourite players and he loved playing for the Blades.

Came over as a very good guy and colleague.

Sad for his family. Terrible news.

Awful news to wake up to this morning. Top, top player and despite the "furious" moniker always seemed like a decent bloke. That goal against Swansea is one of the best I have ever had the privilege to watch live.

"His name is Georgie Baldock and he's fucking dynamite."

RIP George. Thoughts with his family :(

This has knocked me for six, absolutely heartbroken

It is with a very heavy heart that I reflect on the passing of Furious George, a player who truly embodied everything that is special about our club. George was more than just a footballer, he was a symbol of commitment, resilience, and heart, the very qualities that define Sheffield United and its fans.

For years, George gave his all on the pitch, never backing down, always pushing forward, and representing our badge with pride. His tireless energy, unwavering passion, and defensive grit made him a standout for the Blades. Whether it was during the highs of promotion campaigns or the tough battles to stay competitive, George was always there, giving 110% for the team and for us, the fans.

His marauding runs down the right flank, his crunching tackles, and his never-say-die attitude will be forever etched in our memories. He was the kind of player who played for the shirt and for the people who love this club, players like George don’t come around often, and we were fortunate to call him one of our own.

George Baldock’s legacy will live on not just in the goals and assists, but in the passion he showed, the moments he created, and the pride he brought to Bramall Lane. He will forever remain in the hearts of Blades supporters as a true club legend.

Rest in peace, George. You will be missed, but never forgotten. My thoughts are with your friends and family.

I hope we can do something at the next home game fitting for George and his family
Spot on. Devastating news and feels like when I heard the Gary Speed news. Terrible

This is absolutely horrible. It wasn’t too long ago that we were all really pleased and excited for him marking Mbappe out of the France game whilst carrying a horrible injury. Just re-read the comments from Poyet after that game. Classic Baldock.

Epitomised everything that’s great about our club.

Just seen this awful news, absolutely gutted.
What a player he was for us, and an integral part in our drive to the Premier League.
R.I.P STARMAN X

Not long woke up to this. Absolutely gutted.

He was an exemplary representative of our club.

R.I.P Furious George

Few players touch us fans like George did. He got it and he got us.

Wonderful player who over the years we appreciated more and more. It was a special relationship.

Devastating news that's hard to take in.

RIP George x

This is devastating news. He and his family were just embarking on an exciting new adventure…Then this, how bloody awful.
RIP George.

Gut wrenching news. Feels like a family member has passed away. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. I hope the club can get his wife and children to the lane at some point, so we can pay our respects properly. Rest in peace George 🙏😔

I'm truly stunned by this news; I hadn't realised he hadn't been selected for the Greek national team. I was genuinely expecting to see him play tonight against England.

My heart goes out to his family and friends during this difficult time. He was undeniably a legend among Blades. As many have mentioned, even though I didn't know him personally, it felt as if we all did because of the way he engaged with the fans.

Rest in Peace ⭐
