Geary Call Up

Well deserved for Del Boy. He should have been called up long ago. Over here Staunton is a laughing stock. Apparently what Geary hinted at is true. Staunton didn't know he was Irish!! If you find that hard to believe from an international manager this is the man who sent word to Spurs that Andy Reid had been called up... 3 weeks after Reid's transfer to Charlton! He also welcomed Anto Stokes transfer to Sunderland by saying that it would mean he might get a taste of "1st team football" (Stokes was the Scottish Premier leading scorer at the time).

... oh and he owes Paddy an eyebrow as that was his fault as well.
That just puts managers like Glen Hoddle into perspective.

Stan is a total amateur as a manager. Brian Kerr was binned for a lot less than our shameful performances in recent qualifiers. I hope geary takes the chance when he's got it. Roll on an entire Quinn family midfield in a couple of years. Imagine all that gingerness and looky-likieness lined up in the middle. It would be terrifying for the opposition.

That seemed to be the general consensus on the Irish forums when Geary was complaining about not being called up a few months ago.

Well done to pint-sized Del :)

Turning up at the match in their best tarmacking Transit pick-up, each Quinn dressed in a leprechaun suit, with a pig under their arm, a Guinness top hat on, giving it the full "Losh and Begorrah" to all and sundry.:D

Geary heartache

Derek GearyDerek Geary has been forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland's forthcoming tour of the United States due to injury.

The full-back sustained a hip injury - as well as an ankle haematoma - against Wigan Athletic at Bramall Lane on Sunday, which has prevented him from featuring in the Republic's two-match trip.

Derek had been selected in a provisional 23-man squad for matches against Ecuador in New York next Wednesday and Bolivia in Boston three days later.

Had to pull out coz of injury poor lad. :(
