You missed the bit about them posting the movie online? It may very well have started out as a game of scrabble but it ended up employing descriptions you don't tend to find in scrabble too often! ;)

Any description, providing it fits on the board (preferably over the triple word and letter scores), can be found in scrabble :-)

He may be the type that's needed, but surely we can do better than sign a violent, convicted criminal who smacks Blades fans just because of the team they support, and calls Billy Sharp a cunt on social media.

I reckon this is a wind up. It would split the fan base worse then Ched ever did. I for one will be booing the twat.
See, this is exactly where the issue lies - "smacks Blades fans just because of the team they support", it's very doubtful that this was the whole story. "Calls Billy Sharp a cunt on social media", not exactly. It's some pissed up pig shoving a phone in Madine's pissed up face asking a leading question and then uploading it to Twitter. Things can always be framed in different ways.

He's a shitehouse off the field
He's been disrespectful to our captain and legend
He doesn't score goals often enough
He's been arrested, and not acquitted unlike our on loan striker
He risks upsetting the very, very good harmony in our squad.

If he comes, even for a medical, I hope Billy tells him to fuck off elsewhere.

So what, it's football.
He scored 10 in half a season for a terrible Bolton side last year including bossing us.
He's been arrested, brilliant. So what?
And you know more than Chris and Alan yep?

It's not Billy's decision.

Apparently my brother has just seen them in the Red Lion talking over a pin.............coffee.

Well done - you appear to have a pragmatic view on this as a few of us do.

Doubt the vast majority are happy with this (edit: including me) but we need to see the bigger picture on offer.

I’m trying to see the bigger picture on this but can’t. Yes, he’s a big fucker, yes, he’s a handful but his goals per game record is worse than what we have. Cardiff bought him in Jan last year to help them in their push, he featured in half of their games and didn’t score once. Of course he’ll have offered other things to the team which the stats don’t show, but I can’t see him making us more of a goal threat.

I’m not even considering the fact that he’s a major arsehole and been done for several assaults or comments made by him in the past. I just don’t think he’s all that. A nuisance but not much more.

To have him on the pitch, who would you take off? Whoever it is, we are going to be less mobile, less of a goal threat and every time I’ve seen him play well the team have been completely set up to his strengths and played very different to what we do. I’m imagining that most of the time we’ll have an areshole knocking around the place who isn’t getting a starting place. How will he take that?

On a personal level, I’d struggle to support the guy. Some things are worth more than winning. If this is our current best option then I’d rather we went forward with what we have and look again in the summer.

Did a Blade of 60 years grab the pin and shove it in both eyes saying it was preferential to watching Madine play ?

I’ve forgotten more about the game than you’ll ever know. I even venture outside S2 from time to time.

Players are not consulted on potential signings. It doesn’t happen. It would cause all sorts of problems. You lot need to stop placing Bladey Bill on a pedestal. You’re embarrassing yourselves. Do you think Tufty asked him whether he should be left out when he was rubbish last season?

Oh dem Bladey Blades...

Star says otherwise - "United's most senior players are believed to have signalled their willingness to work with Madine, aged 28, as they chase top-flight football."

I thought this was a joke yesterday. Looks more likely now.

I won't boo anyone in a Blades shirt, but he'll certainly take some winning over.

A hat trick at Swillsborough is a good start for the lad.

Some of the comments on this thread are hilarious.

“Been a supporter for x years but if Madine signs I’m done”.

Give over! You’ve supported us through worse and will do so again. Supported us under Wilson but Madine is too far?

Madines a c@@@ and id far rather us sign someone else, without the baggage and who is a better footballer. But ya know what, if he does sign and he scores a goal i’ll Celebrate it just as much.

Totally agree. Quite a few drama queens on here regarding this

From a football perspective it is quite obvious we have needed a target man for some games . Someone who can bully defences and give us a plan B off the bench( we could have done with him against the Pigs, Leeds and West Brom). His goal scoring record for a target man with the pigs and Bolton is better than 1 in 5 and only slightly worse than McGoldrick's stats. His past behavior has been deplorable but over the last 5 years he appears to have kept his head down so he may have learned his lesson. If the squad ( including our captain) are happy to have him join us why shouldn't the fans be ? It's not about asking fans to adore him the minute he puts on a shirt(if he does) it is about supporting the team whoever puts on the shirt. Don't forget what he has done but why not give him a chance. ?

Fans saying they will boo him if he steps on the pitch for us ? I mean....really ?

We do need a pacy option up front thou (assuming he isn't going to use Washington much)

The big picture is promotion.

CW obviously wants Madine and has probably given it much thought - it seems a lot of our fans are completely dismissing this.

He must have thought through comments like yours, which I and many others accept by the way - I am not easy with it myself.

You don't have to support the man - support the player and the team - I see it as the only way some of our fans can get by and fully appreciate it to be a tough ask.

Like you I think there must have been more to the assault than that.

The Star is reporting that he was known to be a regular visitor to the Lane during the 2011/2012 season and was good friends with some of the players, doesn't sound like someone that is going to assault a man JUST because he is a Blade.

This is further backed up as another assault in his past was on a Wednesdayite whilst he was supposedly a Wednesday legend.

The Star also report that he has been looking to switch to us ever since he was at Wednesday,

Now I know it's only the Star but I'm actually quite warming to this situation and would love to see a headline -

WEDNESDAY LEGEND ACHIEVES LIFE TIME AMBITION IN MOVE TO BLADES.

That would stir things up nicely over at S6.

As regards the Billy thing, I believe the players sorted it out amicably between themselves at the time.

you know what? be oreyt wont it. in all honesty everything will be oreyt.

If CW think he will add something then fair enough. the only element that concerns me is the signing him in the summer business, but as long as its only an option then fair enough.

When Marlon King was asked in a Radio Sheffield interview what he had to say to fans who had concerns about his brushes with the law (or something like that), his reply was those feelings were their problem. No sense of remorse or wanting to be given a fresh start. On the day of his debut, when I heard he was in the team, I just felt sick and couldn't go and support that. I didn't. I went cycling instead.
Evans was different. I supported him. I wrote to him.
Madine? Not sure. Let's wait until we hear more. Will he show remorse? Will he reach out to the fan base? How will Wilder explain it? And what will Billy say? We want promotion but not at any cost. I believe Wilder will find a way to keep fans together. He's done more than any other manager to do that.

Can anyone tell us what madine has done to be hated so much ? Apart from playing for the pigs (like Leon)

Many fans on here have worshipped super Ched for doin what he did ?

If we sign him support him just as much as any other player
Scored against us in the derby which was a foul but more than that made nasty commments about Billy

The club has its head in the sand and believes this to be a good signing. Just when you thought the fans, players, manager and the club were all on the same page but clearly that isn't the case.

Due to be announced sometime this afternoon apparently.

He could bag a hat trick against Wednesday and punch Ozzy the owl but I won't be cheering that dickhead on.

So you don't trust CW's judgement ? Are you turning against Wilder if this rumour is true because it sounds like you will blame him for splitting the fan base

You'll not cheer the goals if he scores at the Sty ?.....I find that hard to believe

Some going on about Madswine scoring an 89th minute winner v the Pigs...

what if

Madine misses 89th minute sitter v the Pigs?
