Games we dominated and yet lost

Wasn't that the first home game with the new roof on the Kop (or maybe the first under floodlights)? Or maybe I'm just losing my marbles as I remember the series of corners well, but am probably inventing trivia like first time on the new kop under floodlights.

The first game in front of the new kop was indeed v West Ham but it was a 1-1 draw in the top flight, not the 0-2 defeat in the 2nd tier

For the first 70 minutes against Bristol City we were dominant and yet unluckily ended up on the losing side.
What other matches have we dominated yet lost? I remember Oldham Athletic at home in 2012 being 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go and wondering if we would get four or five. Due to poor refereeing, ill discipline and bad luck we lost 3-2.
In the 80s against Middlesbrough at home I remember dominating for 89 minutes only to lose 1-0 to a last minute goal.
Some would say we were the better side when we lost 4-0 at home to Scunthorpe!

Was that the match where we hit the cross bar, the left post, the right post and had a couple of chances cleared off the line plus a goal disallowed?

Are you talking about the Middlesbrough game? I was young so can't remember the details, I just remember us having loads of chances and then they went up and scored in the very last minute!

Although this is prompted by the Bristol City game in general it just shows how procession is over rated.. unless your citeh at the moment who actually score goals , the stats we now get for every game mean very little . Some teams are now getting almost all procession and having 2 attempts on target in a match . It will always be the case that no matter how much you dominate , if you can't hit the target you're fucked . Last Friday we hit the woodwork 4 times are so , although one was a save on to the bar the others eere off target . Not saying we played poorly far from it but we just weren't clinical ,
