This phrase is open to interpretation, and this is just my interpretation but I would suggest that this phrase implies the financial clout to a) keep hold of your key players and b) sign top calibre players to compliment them, in an attempt to improve your club's fortunes and gain promotion to the championship.

By my reckoning, such investment means that we won't have needed to sell Murphy. By Murphy's family's own admission, the player didn't want to leave, so something doesn't add up and I know where my suspicions lie. The club are fibbing and expecting us to believe it.

As far as I can tell, this 'investment' came in and nothing has changed. Tell me, at what point did the investment come in specifically, as I can't see a turning point..?

Sell Quinn, buy...no one?
Sell Lowton, buy McMahon
Lose Evans, make Porter the number 9
Sell Blackman, sign Forte on loan
Fail to agree terms with Williamson, sign no one
Sell McDonald, sign no one
Sell Maguire, sign no one, play McEveley there, make McEveley club captain.

All other incomings and outgoings aside, the trend of 'sell your best player and fail to replace them' has prevailed. Now it's sell Murphy, and...? I know what my money will be on.

We continue to be let down by the board.

Jim says all money will be reinvested but if like you say he didn't want to leave then I really don't know what is going on. Someone on BM says he was happy here but Brighton offered to double his wages so maybe what Jim says is the case. There have been major changes for the better since the Prince came on board but this is still disappointing nonetheless.
Does your dad know anything about it?

Having 6 teams with higher budgets than you in the third tier of english football is another piece of evidence to say that game changing investment never actually came to fruition. Maybe the board thought "We'll spend all of our money on hiring Adkins, that should be enough for promotion"

We aren't going to be seeing a change anytime soon.

Come on bb and the rest of you get a grip we will see positives over the rest of the transfer window, mark my words this is our season.

From Brighton local rag...

Jamie Murphy wants to use his move to Albion as a springboard to a Scotland call-up.

The Glaswegian winger signed from Sheffield United played under ex-Seagulls manager Mark McGhee at Motherwell and for Scotland under-21.

McGhee, now No.2 to Scotland boss Gordon Strachan, still lives in Brighton and Murphy hopes to catch his eye again following his £1.5 million switch from the Blades on a four-year deal.

The 25-year-old said: "He (McGhee) was the first one that gave me a real chance in the first team, a run of games, playing games in Europe. He was big for me at the time.

"If you play well enough it's always going to get talked about, so it's up to me.

"It's one of the big reasons I felt like making the move was a good thing. I want to try to get in my national team, I want to give everything I've got to try and do that."

Murphy, signed too late to feature at Fulham tomorrow, will be watching his new team-mates in the flesh at Craven Cottage after seeing their opening 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest last week on TV.

He said: "They played very well. It was a great performance from the rest of the boys and a deserved win as well, a good start to the season. Hopefully now we can keep it going."

Reading that it certainly looks like he was forced out of the club by those nasty board members....

Murphys family say he didn't want to leave? Based on two posters on BladesMad, one who is willing to release ITK info via personal messenger on here and another who claims to know Murphys dads mate - and pretty much everyone in Sheffield while boasting about being a scientific genius and "big" drinker - while ignoring one who has a 100% record on info coming from within the club?

No, not having it. Jamie's dads mate drinks with the BladesMad royalty and says none of that is true.

If it is from someone ITK on Bladesmad it has just got to be true

Which Jim? Mr P or Mr M?

Mr P it would appear. Mr M's dads mate does it for free beer. Funny man though. Can read a telephone directory and make people laugh.

Has his cock out while he does it though.

What evidence?
  • A 4 nil drubbing by Gillingham FC
  • Fighting tooth and nail to beat a league two side in the 90th minute
  • Signing 3 players in positions we didn't need and only finally signing a centre back after the first game
  • No outgoings until the season started, even though our squad is 34 players large
  • No centre halves been signed until the season started and we got a wake up call
  • Selling our best player after the season has started

If I think of any more I shall let you know.:)

So thats your evidence that there will be no more positives for the rest of the transfer window. I think thats evidence that there will be.

I think some of the evidence such as the squad size is unfortunately too late to rectify. We should have signed them by now and we should have watched and seen them mixing nicely with the new squad, the points it could cost us whilst we wait for this to happen now could be season defining.

Offloading the amount of deadwood required will be a challenging mission to complete in 3 weeks, and that's without thinking about who we're going to sign in their places. With a squad of 34 surely we will have to trim before we sign. But it's anyones guess with this club.

I've cooled off a little now, I know there has been allot of bold statements by the board such as "game changing investment". However I seem to think that whatever they have promised is slowly being delivered. Think about the investment at BDTBL. New pitch, new ticket office, sponsorship with Adidas. There are noticeable improvements to the club. Although I am frustrated as I suppose many are as well. I genuinely believe that if my money was being spent, I would want it to be spent in the same way. Everything is running allot slower than originally anticipated, I suppose that could be a reflection of how much of a mess we were in. Just think, if we can spend 3 mill on a left back in league 1, how much ground will we be able to make in the divisions above. There's light at the end of the tunnel. UTB

I keep seeing this squad figure of 34 but that includes youngsters (who dont count toward FFP). We also have 10 of those out injured. We actually have 19 players tomorrow for 18 shirts. I wouldn't say thats a bloated squad.

The problem is, the new board have invested, but they've invested wrongly. They gave Nigel Clough money to spend on the wrong players, 1.5mill in League One on a Right back? It was a deal we should never have done, the board are loving spending money on the stadium, they er want a Premier League standard ground in League One.

New Pitch
Improvements to South stand hospitality
New seats (which was paid for by sponsors, but we wouldn't have them if we hadn't got a new pitch)
New ticket office

The money was there, just spent in the wrong places and now we're paying the price.

Think you need to learn a bit about how capital works rather than cash flow son. Suggest GCSE accounts may start the process.

I'm afraid there can't be any excuses for a squad as large as that. If there's too many youngsters, why are they in the first team squad if they aren't going to get a game? I haven't seen one youngster (Reed aside) from our academy making regular sub appearances. The injuries doesn't make a difference, it's the financial impact they are having by being on our books.. we don't just stop paying them when they get injured.

Because they are on professional contracts we choose/have to give them a squad number. Let me tell you one tweeny bit of insider knowledge, 10 of those players wages added together does not even equal a third of what our highest paid player gets.
