Dark Lord he may be, but he’s an alright guy. Took young George away. I have gritted teeth admiration, if he hadn’t had been fucked with injuries he’d have binned them lot off.

Picked up an injury last year, but he scored a goal every 75 minutes he played last season. Couldn't have done much more on the pitch.
 
Are we actually in for anyone else? Are there indications about specific players?

Wilder wants more but not sure how much budget we have left and who we're actually looking at without more sales

Tom cannon wouldn't cost the earth if Preston had him last season, and I'm sure once Vardy is fit he'll be back out on loan.
But, it has gone quiet on all our possible targets (and we hear about them for weeks or months in advance) so who knows.
 
I reckon Wilder want's a beast up front to complement the slick wingers/attacking midfielders.

This lad would be decent competition for big Keef.

Whenever I watched the EFL highlights last season he always seemed to come off the bench and score, a real unit.

Should be able to get him out of Watford for £3m?
 
It's gone very quiet other than Cannon for a Brewster like inflated fee. I hope it's a case of we are working away at targets quietly rather than not being seen as an important position to fill. Moore, Marsh and Brewster won't be enough imo.

The fact about half a dozen other sides want Cannon suggests he must have summat about him.
 
Our biggest mistake in recent windows has been not having the vision to see that the squad lacked firepower.

With a squad that really should be challenging for promotion, where is our 20 goal striker ??

Its like no club has ever taken a gamble on a young striker and came out of it well.

Also, if Cannon had scored 15 goals for the last 3 seasons he wouldn't be coming to us. Eventually you have to take a risk to get some reward. £7m and even £10m for a striker is not very much these days. He has a lot of good qualities for the level where we are right now.

It's not a matter of age, it's spending a huge portion of your budget on a player without even a full season behind him.

That's a fair comment but there's 3 general scenarios,

1. he has played at least a full season and done well, so likely will cost significantly more than £7m.

2. He's played at least a full season and done shit or nothing, so likely we don't want them or our fans moan about us being interested

3. He's quite young and therefore yet to have fully proven himself but has shown glimpses of his capabilites, so is a risk but still within our financial reach and not yet been picked off by a top tier club.

Like it or not we are miles off buying a full squad of ready made top players so we have to get loans, slightly unproven players or ones with previous issues such as cooper with his injury. That may change with a takeover but who knows.

I agree we have obvious limitations in what we can realistically sign. You are not going to get a proven 20 goal a season for 7-10mill. The fee relative to what we have spent so far seems a stretch for me. But like you say, who knows maybe it's not following the takeover. I think the answer as it has been for a long time is a better scouting system and recruitment strategy that allows us to take more reasonable gambles from abroad.

Just about every article last day or two on News Now is our players linked to other clubs. I don’t see one article/rumour or otherwise linking us to any players at all, which is concerning and I would say your post probably has some truth in it

Enough to achieve what ? Promotion no, but top ten yes. I am not sure the business plan has anything above 7th this season.
