A striker who can run would be a start, we can work on the ‘behind defences’ bit when he signs.

It's hard to get behind the defence when every cross comes from the goal line, cut back along the ground or at knee height to the edge of the six yard box. Our build up play with crosses is predictable, ineffective and largely crap.

True, but I suggested we wait only one season and then go for it: hence 2025/26.
To go up again unready would be worse than going up ready to stay for a few seasons.

You said 26/27… but never mind all that… the only way to progress in the modern era is to be in the premier league. It’s do or die… there’s no “let’s leave it a season or two” just look at Norwich for example

Apologies. 2026/27 is when we give the PL another go. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear.

I'm sure Southampton aren't obligated to sell him if relegated.

I think Villa might have realised his true value after his season with us. I'll bet they're happy to get good money for him (again).

Let's see how he gets on against PL defences regularly. I didn't see much from him last season, so let's see if he's any good in a soon to be struggling Southampton side.

I'm disappointed we didn't get a few more players in. Including a centre forward.

But I was struggling to think of realistic transfers for us. If we'd pulled something out it would have been left field.
