Arthur Rowley picked him at left back for 5 league games in the 1968-69 season (you can see him in his debut if you search for Sheffield United v Oxford in 1968 on you tube) but since then he didnt play for the first team again and in 1970/71 he went on loan to Southend where he played in only 1 league match. You can see him on far right top row in the below photo

Wow! Look men that look like they wont nesh much. Hemsley, Badger and indeed Harmeston look like they could deal with most prison teams let alone LeagueOne...
I think proper stripes and black shirts add to the don't fuck with me look...
Against this lot Scougall would look like the ball boy and as for McNulty's dyed hair..,can you imagine the dressing room comments?
Yes, the world moves on , but some things from the olden days should be retained....

I have an inkling that he worked at one time for Howdens Joinery on Bramall Lane as an Area Rep.Sheffield lad wasn't he Silent? Think he left football to go into a Sales career.
Yes, played for Sheffield Boys. Think he had been a scout for a club, not sure if he still does. I have seen him at BDTBL in recent yearsSheffield lad wasn't he Silent? Think he left football to go into a Sales career.
Mick Harmston looked too big for a left back and not hard enough for a centre back. Neither nowt nor summat.

Black boots..
Oh to see our lads in black boots rather than these multicoloured, dayglo, zipped, ankle high, side tied, swoosh branded pixie style, Torvill and Dean wearing 'boots'.
Bring em back. Set the tone lads, set the tone...
As many have alluded to, Mick is still alive and well and living in Sheffield. He did indeed attend St Paul's in Granville Rd and played for Sheffield Boys around 1966 I believe. He was a tall rather unskilled defender and a lot of local judges on the Wybourn estate where Mick lived were surprised when he was offered an apprenticeship and then pro terms with United. Many better ' footballers' than Mick locally, but that's not the defining criteria as we all know ( or at least some of us do ☺).I got given a programme from 1968 Hull city away ,and our left back was a player called mick Harmston . does anybody know anything about this player?
I thank you!You are a fucking legend fella.
