We're we sold the dream with Higdon and Hammond . Marquee and dud is a fine line in football . Thank fuck our intended marquee signing went to Burton.

UTB

At the time of his signing, I particularly thought Hammond would be a key component. I was wrong, so wrong, the last person that wrong was Neville Chamberlain and his piece of paper.

I couldn't accept his constant drops out of form. Clearly capable, but far too inconsistent. Thanks for the opener against Charlton and the winner at villa.

Flynny always seemed like the type of kid who you were happy that your daughter brought home.
If my daughter brings someone like McNulty home I'll strangle the cunt with a jumper and stick a lollipop up his harris. Flynny on the other hand will cost me a fortune in petrol money, picking my daughter up from Oldham every time she wants to see him. So, McNulty it is then. :)

Good luck to him, decent signing for Oldham..like some have said, just lacked a yard of pace, and a bit more strength.

They're easily pleased in Oldham. Jesus.

A bang average, middle of the road, mid table league one performer.

Has anyone been and broke the news yet?

Maybe best to let them find out for themselves.

Step forward those clubs who have not signed Ryan Flynn:

Oi, Oldham, Not so fast....

Always liked Flynn. Honest player, gave everything in every game he played. Injury problems yes, but when he played he was often the most creative player on the pitch. Not saying he was great, but given the lack of class on the pitch for the last xx years, he stood out as a forward attacking midfielder.
Good luck Flynny. Have a great career.

From their forum:

"Don't think we can possibly compare ourselves to them. Their expectations are so much higher. This is the same club who don't really rate Baxter..."

Fucking hell they must be desperate to sign that nesh fucker - clearly happy to continue in league 1

One of my consultants at Jimmy's is an Oldham fan and just two weeks ago he told me they had 4 players, no manager and no coaches.

I wonder who else we can palm off on them :)

Good luck to the lad

So if we'd have been successful he would not have played. However we were not and he did his best. We needed better players but we did not get them. A good honest servant at a level we should never have been at. Thanks Ryan in these dark days you gave us some of the more memorable moments.

I've never been a fan of his, but he seemed honest enough and gave it his all, so I wish him all the best for the future. Except against us, I hope he messes that one up.

I will remember him for that high flying tackle at Scunthorpe , which was totally out of character and sent him up the Tunnel i think Doyle followed him or visa versa . Oh and Collins may have got us a point that day with nine men not sure .

A decent player especially at this level ,too honest for his own good ,which ended up with him being played anywhere and totally mis-managed. Good luck to him he has plenty to offer ,Oldham have got a good deal.

He's inoffensive and perhaps gets away from the "wage stealer" tag given he's a quiet lad who's always tried hard.

Very good sign of intent from CW though getting rid of these squad players lacking in anything special.

Good luck to Flynn, some good memories but will be put in the Bobby Ford category in terms of ex-players.

Think he's a decent signing for them. Not quite consistent or direct enough to be a starter in a serious promotion challenge but plenty good enough for lower mid-table in this league.

What was that game where he blatantly got fouled in the box but didn't go down? The ref said no penalty disgracefully.

Doyle was sent off first for a cowardly stamp on 15 minutes. Flynn followed on 71 after Leon Clarke (shock!) had put Scunthorpe ahead. Collins rescued a point with a decent header 8 mins from time.

In other connection news, Scunthorpe's manager that day was none other than Alan Knill.

FWIW I'd add my best wishes to Flynn at Oldham. He gives 100% and knows his limitations; he'll do well there but as Foxy said, it was time for him to move on.

Good luck to him. He's found his level at last

Unless I missed them getting relegated last season, aren't they playing at the SAME level he's been playing at for the last FIVE seasons?

Fwiw, he was bought as a back up to Lee Williamson when we had a team good enough to get out of this * division (* add your own derogatory name for the level we find ourselves at). The fact we lose the player he was behind, and thus promote the less capable, is hardly a reflection on him but epitomises our demise over the last decade.
