Fleck - The end

I believe fleck as part of a better more rounded midfield will again look good.

ps: Is that Chubby Brown on the right?

It was rumoured CW was desperate for a LCB. As soon as JoC was injured it’s pretty obvious you would want a replacement. It never came as the board didn’t want to spend.

Freeman was a weird one. I like him I would have had him involved last season.
said it at the time and still stand by it
We spent 6 weeks chasing a striker from Liverpool
Knowing that JOC’s injury was a serious injury we still went and spent 23/24 million on that striker
Strikers wasn’t what we needed - but a right sided midi and a adequate replacement for JOC that’s where the 23/24 mil should have gone
Rumour also that it was our manager banging the Princes door down for the striker so that’s where somebody prioritised

dont think brewster has ever settled here and certainly has never looked like hes wanted to be here however as big a mistake his signing has proved most on here were advocating for us to go and sign him with his goalscoring record

can't really say if he's settled or not-

absolutely everyone wanted him here including Chris Wilder- but it was obvious after about 3 matches in - he was way out of his depth, Jebbison has shown far more in his limited appearances than Brewster-

the money United have spent on him is dictating they try to get a tune out of him, to try and get his value back up, but we all know FACT if this had been a kid from our own u23's he'd be nowhere the first team now.

current value - what 3 Million if we are lucky?

Of the two wasters McB or Brew- I'd persevere with Brew- McB - a lot worse.

It's clear that fleck and Norwoods poor form is down to having sod all to pass to when the likes of brewster and mcburnie are stood up front with the movement of wheelie bins. Fleck was brilliant today with players actually making runs for him

Playing in an actual midfield and not alongside an empty knitted jumper also helped.

That said I do think Fleck played for a long time while not fully fit.

Starting a bit deeper like when he played with Coutts, he may be able to pick his runs a bit more selectively, but with more intensity and quality. The main thing is that we looked a well balanced side with lots of different threats.

Will be interesting to see if the contributions from Gibbs-White and Ndiaye can impact other players too.

Hope he keeps proving me wrong, certainly took no joy in seeing a player who’d been so good for us look so utterly finished.

He’s still an age where he should be able to perform so was surprising to see him fall apart like he had done over the previous 18 months.

The linking up of MGW and Ndiaye seems to have energised a number of players today.

Fleck is another one I've slagged off plenty in the past, hopefully today will be a springboard.

Flashes of the old Fleck today. Hopefully with players around him doing better and competition for places he can have a second coming (but not in a naughty way).

Shows what competition in the squad does to players! Norwood / Fleck had to up their performances as they know Berge & Hourihane are waiting

Personally don’t think it’s about competition as they’re professionals. I think it’s more about having better players/positivity around them. MGW and Ndiaye bridged the gap between midfield and attack perfectly today which gave Fleck/Norwood an outlet which allowed them to get up in support and make positive runs.

Am I the only one who thought of the new Abba song when Fleck scored?!
