We don’t invest in positions in this club.
In our 2 seasons in the PL we didn’t buy a single centre half.
We eventually got a reserve right back in
Baring Berge didn’t spend anything on central midfielders.
Wilder gave Fleck and Norwood big contracts and offered Lundstram a similarly good deal. I'm not blaming him as they were playing excellent when they got their deals but he was obviously happy with that area of the pitch.
It's easy to google Osborn's cost as between 3-3.5m given Forest turned down 3m.All those figures are greatly exaggerated. But I suppose this is what forums are for.
Scored 2 against Burnley in the prem and against villa and Arsenal away. Sadly seems to have fallen off a cliff. The last time I remember him doing owt good was when he scored against the pigs.
He,along with Norwood, Robinson and Stevens are stealing a wage.A busted flush, time to invest in his position and I doubt he’d be a better option off the bench than Osborn who at least brings energy.
Regardless of form and how motivated he is, when he’s not playing in a team with a certain rhythm and pattern of play that suits his style, his mediocrity shines through.
There is the argument that he always starts seasons slowly, but let’s be right he’s been horrific for going on 18 months.
I still think there could be some use for Norwood as a squad player, but Fleck looks finished to me. Midfield needs a complete rebuild
Agree with that, Fleck hasn’t been the same since he got that new contract. Is it a coincidence that both have gone rapidly downhill since getting those new contracts ?
I don’t know , but of the two , I am most disappointed with Fleck . Norwood is clearly nowhere near the player he was for whatever reason , but at least he appears to give a shit and doesn’t hide .
The same can’t be said for Fleck and this has been going on for over a year and reached the stage where he has almost become Lundstram Mk. 2 . This is a great shame since , at his best , he was one of our most influential players but we should not make the same mistake we did with the latter and bin him off asap .
Was she?!Sam Fox was fit once.
Always rated McGinn to be fair and it would have been a tough decision for me personally. But take your point ,they are miles apart now. It's hard to believe now, but go back 3 years how many would have swapped Fleck for Mcginn (Villa) ? Injuries, a loss of form, and like the rest of the team, not just a loss of confidence but fight and belief, with no sign it's close to being sparked back
Also worth considering the loss of JOC and Enda's loss of form, huge difference down the left hand side.
Mcginn always looked a good player, but he has improved just as much as Fleck has declined, the gulf is hugeAlways rated McGinn to be fair and it would have been a tough decision for me personally. But take your point ,they are miles apart now.
Yeh ,can’t argue with that.He is really spoiling his legacy at the club in my opinion.Sad.Mcginn always looked a good player, but he has improved just as much as Fleck has declined, the gulf is huge
I know he has been played on the right while Slav experiments on shapes/formations, and it's not a position he is used to, but its not like he (or anyone else to be fair) has put in a performance in their usual role, that demands they stay in that role. Maybe that's part of the fear or issue, playing out of position, having a poor game and getting droppedYeh ,can’t argue with that.He is really spoiling his legacy at the club in my opinion.Sad.
