When was the last time we had that many in a competitive game and won the match?
How about the 6-0 cup win under Clough against Leyton Orient?

Ignore me, thought we had a far younger side out that day than we did for some reason. Probably because Chapman bagged 3.

Only Ramsdale

We do have a great academy it is just a pity that the first team never get the benefit of all the up and coming talent coming through . Other clubs don't have no problem pinching them for next to nothing. As for the blades is it me or are there others who are pissed off with the club being linked to players who never arrive. there must have been a dozen or more in the last 12 months who we were told they are on their way and end up somewhere else . Latest one has signed for Stoke , If we can not compete with Stoke for players why should be bother .

I'd be more pissed off at the local rags linking us to players that we probably don't know exist, I bet we aren't interested in 90% of the people we've been "linked with".

What has Ostigard got to do with our academy players? And who told us he was “on his way”?

Based on my experience for the last 2 matches, there has been no benefit to buying tickets online as I've had to queue to pick them up anyway (and paid £1 booking fee for the privilege).

Last time I left picking up tickets until before the match was Inter Milan where the queue started halfway down Bramall Lane, then they didn't even have our tickets so had to take someone else's (as it was 20 mins after KO by this point).
If you ordered them early enough they post them to you.

Please do not believe every journalist or click bait web site who claim inside knowledge of players we are apparently interested in.
they do it for a reason:—- they have to print something and experience tells us that they are usually educated guesses or snippets they have picked up from here. Very rarely do we now let slip who we are interested in unless we have a b good chance of signing them.

I'd love to know the 6th starting XIs that were younger

One of them might have been that home match in the league against Rotherham when Clough was manager.

We won 1-0 thanks to a last minute penalty from Ben Davies. Remember him?

It was the week before the FA Cup semi final against Hull so Clough played a few kids.

Back in 1983-4 in the Northern Semi Final of what is now the Checkatrade trophy Ian Porterfield, reacting to Colin Morris getting a fractured cheekbone in the previous round, played more or less a reserve XI as we lost 1-0 to Hull.

I wondered how many youth team debutants there were that night and it turns out that there were 4: Jeff Eckhardt, Brian Smith, Paddy McGeeney and Lee Walshaw.

5 is a lot.

And more importantly ...... none of the lads let us down at all. Sound performances and commitment and young Brewster getting his goal !! ☺️

UTB & FTP

The reality is we have needed a defender well before Wilder left and we still do and i believe the names that have been linked to us have been genuine . We just have difficulty getting these in the door. Is it our wage structure ? Why is it other clubs in who don't have the benefit of prem money and parachute payments seem to get their targets easier than we do? Their is a club not to far away whos players do not know if they are getting payed or not who have just brought in theirv13th player in the transfer window. Now i am not saying any of them are any good but with out any reasonable wage structure or any promises of any money at the end of the month they are finding it easy to get their targets in the door. On the other hand we seem to struggle to get our men in. and we still have not got our left sided center half after about 12 months trying to sign one.

No, the only player out of three you mentioned that won on his debut was Kenworthy. 3-1 at Norwich. Stainrod (his debut was the 5-0 defeat at Spurs the previous week) scored in that match and is still the youngest ever Blade scorer

I recall reading that when Regan Slater scored in this game at Grimsby he became our youngest ever scorer - by one day. Bergen Blade lists our young players in post #6 on that thread, although I'm not sure how many of them were making their debut.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the answer was “never”. Possibly before WW2 or maybe in an early JPT game (I remember the likes of McAllister and Philiskirk Jnr playing in those when we were in L1). When you consider we’re not even a Cat 1 academy we’re doing very well at the moment.
How about the first competitive game after WW2 (or WW1). Just punting out there.
