81/82. Dunno who against (played in yellow? maybe?).

Glad you said that. Whilst everyone else religiously recounts their first game, I simply don't know for sure who it was or which year. I'm guessing '83. I think it was 0-0, against a minor London team.

All I know for sure is that it was boring as fook, I was cold, and my mum had a flask of coffee under the wooden seat.

I guess if your parents aren't Blades then they don't reinforce the mythology that goes with the first game....

Blades v QPR - February 1970 - 2- 0 to the Red & White Wizards, I think Gil Reece and Eddie Colquhoun scored.

As he was a wednesdayite, my dad had taken me to the sty for my first ever game earlier in the season.

I didnt talk to him for three months after that!

I am told that my first game was a birthday present September 1947. I was 2. My grandad was United, but my dad was Wed. I enjoyed United at home and suffered Wed when they were at home.

Me - Liverpool League Cup 1978.
Mrs R - Port Vale 3-0 Feb 1997
Raulita - Fulham 2-0 Dec 1999

post: 437146, member: 875"]What was everyones. Mine was SUFC v Northampton Town, old Division 4, March 1982.

My sons at the tender age of 3, is SUFC v Bournemouth, League 1, 1st Sept 2012.

Was that the 7-3 Brownie?

Mine was 1980, home v Pompey. Mike Trusson volley in front of the Kop saw us win 1-0.

My first ever game was Pigs v Oxford earlier the same season. I still don't know what possessed my Dad, (a lifelong Blade) to take me to the Piggery for my first ever game..?????

Aug 1990
Blades v Liverpool
Lost 3-1, Pemberton went in goal, Deane equalised..Barnes, Rush & Houghton?

First win...
Blade v Forest
3-2 Bryson (2) Deane (1)
Pearce & Keane for forest.

Stainrod 2, Speight and Woodward got the goals and famously Stainrod was denied a hat trick as he went one on one with the keeper, knocked the ball past him and turned to celebrate. Unfortunately, what with the downpour, the ball stuck in the mud on the line....

I know.

7th September 1889 v Nottingham Rangers I'm wearing well, aren't I? ;-)

Actually it was 9th October 1948 v Manchester City. Lost 0 - 2.

Team: Jack Smith, Fred Furniss, Dick Young, Ernest Jackson, Harry Latham, Joe Shaw, Dennis Thompson, Cliff Whitelum, Colin Collindridge, Jimmy Hagan, George Jones.

that was my second, in 1981 though, remember seeing grown men crying and not enjoying my tea very much.

My first was 3-2 v Charlton same season, don't remember much about it though.

I love these threads as they allow me to show off my inner show off.

That game was Don Givens' debut and he had a cracker. Setting up the first two goals for Hatton and Garner and getting the winner. It was 14th March 1981.

17th March 1990 - 3-0 home victory against wolves. All I remember is the players celebrating in front of the kop and the surge of fans to the front! :D

Deane, Gannon (pen) and Whitehurst scored.

I honestly don't know , I remember being at Rotherham and just walking out of the ground as someone ( might have been les tibbot) scored a beauty from about 35 yards

I didn't see it of course which sums up my blades supporting life perfectly
I remember my first away game at Cardiff a boring 0-0 draw with the highlight being a tip over the bar by Steve conroy . Ah the exciting life of supporting the blades eh

That Rotherham game must have been on 21/4/84 when Bob Atkins got the last minute winner from about 25 yards.

As for the Cardiff game, the only times we played at Cardiff where Conroy was in goal was the 0-4 defeat on 21/4/79 and the 0-2 defeat on 25/9/82. We did draw 0-0 there on 11/2/89, but that was long after Conroy had left.

I can assist...

Probably the 0-0 draw v Brentford on 22/10/83. Philliskirk's debut.

First game of 1971-72 season.

The team we played against was Southampton, though for years I thought it was Burnley (chuff knows why, different kit, different part of the country..the folly of youth!). Don't remember much about it, other than we won and I was mesmerised by the kop from my position on the railings at the front of the JS terrace. And, at the end of the game, those stood with my Dad convinced him I was a lucky mascot for the team and should be brought again, which was the next Tuesday, I think, home to Leeds under the lights. We won again, I was hooked, and my status as lucky mascot was secured (for a few weeks at least!).

Blades 2 Manchester United 1 February 1991. How wrong was I to think it would always be like that

Funny, that was Mrs Revolution's first game as well, though I think it was later on in February.

Others:

Revolution jr: 2-2 vs Colchester August 2007
Secretchief of this parish: 0-1 vs Fulham April 1985

Revolution Sr's 1st game is lost in the mists of time, but was at some point during the Austerity years.

7 straight wins in the top division... them were t'days....

At home against Bradford in 1989, a 1-1 draw, November 18th 1989. Id been to games before, but thats the first one I remember.
