First for David Brooks

Agree with Danetheblade - he took it really well. Lovely weight on the pass from Duffy, and Brooks just let it run across his body, waited, waited a bit more, and then passed it inside the far post. A lot of strikers would have taken it early and gone for the power shot inside the near post.

He's quite some player, this lad. Billy's scored a hatful over the last decade, but just compare and contrast how calm Brooks was with his finish against that sitter Billy missed from the free kick in the first half.

Chuffed as fuck for Brooks to score tonight. Sums up being a Blade at the minute:

- Spurs fan comes round mine to watch the game
- Asks me for a prediction
- I say 2 or 3-1 to us
- I put £30 on Billy to score anytime and the Blades to win
- He asks me about Brooks when we see he isn't starting and I say "but he has such a big impact when he comes on..."

Incredible night. UTB....and £220 up.

I showed my usual understanding of football after about 65 minutes, as the game was getting a bit physical, when I said to my lad that this was no match to bring Brooks on for. Not sure I called that one right.

Me too!

The first of many. And I can't wait to see them.

I still can't believe we've got him on a 4 year contract. It's ridiculous. He still seems like a short term bonus.

i said exactly the same thing, probably why i'm still in league one after 3 seasons on football manager 17

This is going to sound a bit smug ( moi ?) but on 60 mins. Mrs. Joe left the room saying " I'm fed up of hearing you say bring Brooksie on and give ' em something different to worry about "

I'm happy to report that she returned and gave me a big hug and a kiss when he scored and that we're still together

Made up for him to get his first senior goal. Was unlucky not to get it earlier in the season against Barnsley, but what better occasion than last night?

He's been at a 'massive' club with man city and knows what it's like to be dropped. Think he will stay around and want to develop.

When he scored last night he patted the badge on his shirt. He's a Blade, nah, he's a reight Blade, nah, he's a Blades legend.

Said to myself around the 50 minute mark.. the game was screaming for a player like him to come and harass and strike fear into their defence. His time came and boy did he take it. Excellent game capped off by his first goal for the first team. Taken excellently may I add.

Agree. But I do wish people wouldn't use the word "excellently" - there used to be no such word in the English language. It's found it's way into our vernacular as a result of illiterate journalists, in particular, sports presenters on Radio Sheffield, with flat Yorkshire accents, who have, through ignorance, taken a good adjective, like "excellent", and turned it into an adverb.
